About:
We are a semi-retired couple from the UK who have lived and worked in Australia in the past and have an enduring love for the nation. We are both in our 60s now and are aiming to combine voluntary community work in Australia with looking after a property and, if required, its garden and family pets.
Both of us are conscientious and neat housekeepers, 100% dependable, keen gardeners and pet lovers. We will be in Australia for up to three months and will be available from January 5 2013. We have many enduring Australian friends in Sydney, including respected solicitors and journalists, who would be happy to provide you with references. We are both non-smokers and would look after your home, its contents and pets as we would look after our own.
We have been married for 41 years and are grandparents. Swiss-born Annelise, 62, is a family therapist with a UK National Health Service Trust and has police clearance. Chris, 61, works as a sub-editor on UK national newspapers. We are planning an annual extended stay in Australia now we have scaled down our work commitments in England.
Our preferred location for house-sitting is Sydney but we would consider any other reasonably-sized town/city.
We would be glad to provide a bond and/or sign a house-sitting agreement if you wish, to make clear our responsibilities and commitments.
We have a well-kept semi-detached house in a quiet close in Walton on Thames, Surrey – only 20km outside London and with brilliant train services into the city centre – and would consider a house swap (even if an Australian property is smaller). But this is NOT a necessity and we will be coming to Australia in any event.
Though we will be in Australia for up to three months, we would consider multiple house sits for shorter periods at each address.
