About this house sitting position in Murchison North

We live on a lifestyle hobby farm of 60 acres 9 Km's North of the pretty village of Murchison (7mins) with coffee shop, bakery, bank, pub, mini mart, laundromat and garage. We are just under 2hrs from Melbourne. We hope to head off for a few weeks in June-July and require house sitting for our beautiful elderly golden retriever (13 years) who's arthritic and quite deaf but loves people and 2 cats (13 yrs and 1year) plus 2 goats (hand reared). Our comfortable house is set in parklike gardens with plenty of room for a caravan. Private access to the Goulburn River with adjoining 300 acres of crown land, walking tracks and river beach. We are on tank water and also have solar hot water and the gardens are on a watering system (from the dam). Some experience in a rural setting preferred in order to handle occasional power outages (resetting of the pumps and solar). We have a veggie patch, rotunda overlooking the dam with fire pit perfect and there are usually a few dozen head of cattle in the home paddock which are agisted by our neighbour (and his responsibility). Nearest towns are Mooroopna for weekly grocery shopping (15mins) or Nagambie (20mins) while the major centre is Shepparton (25mins) with SAM Art museum, Shepparton Motor Museum, Village cinemas and Eastbank centre for live theatre and music. Violet Town (30 mins) has a wonderful market on the 2nd Saturday of each month, while Benalla (1 hour) and the North East High Country (Mansfield, Beechworth, Bright) are all within easy day trip range . However for peace and tranquility, staying at home and enjoying the sounds of the bush is also pretty attractive. Read more...
