45-year-old employed mature female available to house sit in Canberra

I am a professional 46 year-old female who is full time employed by government as an environmental scientist and chemist.

I am completely new to ‘official’ house sitting using websites, however I have minded friend’s and family’s homes many times. I am looking to take care of other people’s homes while I am away from my own beautiful property in Melbourne which features a half acre landscaped garden I have created over the past 13 years leading to being the finalist in the Weerama Sustainable Gardening competition.
In the past 5 years I have studied environmental science and have now got a graduate position with Government in Canberra. For me this means possible rotations every 4 months so a longer-term rental contract does not currently suit me. I am having someone house sit while I am away as I may return to Melbourne for one of my rotations, so have no income on my own house.

Experience with pets:
In addition I have always been a homemaker and have taken care of some creature or other, even the wildlife in my backyard.
I had pets from age 3, -everything from small caged animals to horses, dogs, cats and my current pets in Melbourne are a cat and many chickens. They will stay there to save them the stress of a new home every few months. I know a lot about plants, about most common pests, vegetable and fruit growing and will usually leave plants and animals happy as they have been or in an improved state.
I have groomed cats, horses, dogs, clipped nails, wormed and administered medications and tended wounds. I will adjust to whatever your pet is used to from you. Regular walks for dogs, feeding regime, changing water in fish tanks and checking and adjusting pH (after all I am a chemist).
I have assisted with my chickens hatching from eggs and I know many natural remedies to keep chickens healthy. I have too much knowledge to list it all here and in the end I will do what you tell me what is right for your friend as you know them best.

I have just gone through security clearance for obtaining my position. I am a mother of one. My son lives in Melbourne for this year so I am single non smoker and non drinker and nearly 46 years old. I am happy to provide you with references of people who have shared the house with me over the past years who can attest to my constant care of my surroundings and reliability.

Since 13 years I have lived a sustainable life and been near self-sufficient on my small ‘farm’ in the city. In Melbourne I have got chickens and cats. In the past I have owned or minded dogs, horses and all sorts of small pets like chipmunks, mice, gerbils, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds reptiles etc.

Due to being single I have learned over life to maintain my property and keep it to high standards. My house is always clean, especially the kitchen. I am good with my hands and like to keep a pleasant environment for pets and myself.


Unfortunately I had to leave my gorgeous property behind for a job in Canberra. If you would like me to mind your house while I am on 4-month rotations, please feel free to contact me.

Not only will you find me very reliable and straight forward, but I also have current working with children’s check and had to undergo international vetting for my employment, so police checks from Australia and Europe have just been completed.
