Hello, my name is Rika.

I am a retired professional translator. I am Japanese and a permanent resident in Australia. I have two beautiful grown up daughters (One in Japan and one in Australia).

I always had a lovely house for the last 30 years. We also had two happy Cavalier King Charles Spaniels for many years. My house was always clean and beautiful, and my garden was well looked after.

When we visited our family in Japan over the last 30 years, we always had a house sitter to look after our house. We found our house clean and our dogs happy and healthy most of the time, but occasionally, we found ourselves let down by a house sitter. So I know how important it is to find the right house sitter when you are away.

From 2016-2018 I stayed in Japan for 2 years doing voluntary work. I visited my friends and family in Japan again this year and returned to Brisbane recently. Since all my belongings are in boxes and put away, I decided to house sit for the next few years so that I can spend my spare time doing volunteer translation and subtitling work rather than paid work.

In recent years between trips to Japan I have done house sitting several times, and looked after family pets including dogs and cats. (When I was growing up we had dogs and cats, so I am experienced with both dogs and cats. My daughter also had fish, so I can feed fish and change the water).

I mostly stay at home and work in front of the computer, so I will be happy to look after any pets and take your dog (if you have one) for a walk every day. I will be visiting friends, or going out for coffee sometimes.
