We are 2 x £10 wonders. Arrived in a Aus 1965. Stepped off the plane and tripped over the golden pavement. I think it was gold. We went back to the UK on a working holiday in 1979 and bought a pub. Introduced mini-mix concrete into the UK and started mini-skips. Then I came back to Aus to organise mini-concrete franchise. I received offers i couldn't refuse from WIA, the company I used to work for. On arriving back in the UK we put the pub on the market. After the sale was completed the £ was very low against Aus $, so we managed a pub until the £ was sound. In 1982 we returned to Australia to a recession. No job. So we started our Own business Bowns Welding Servicers Pty ltd, repairing, and later selling welding equipment.( "A "grade Electrician and electronics being my profession)
We have 2 wonderfull and caring daughters both with 2 children. 4 grand kids 3 boys 1 girl. We are retired and at the moment our house in Melbourne is up for sale. The sale is being handled by our daughters. We are now traveling Queensland in a caravan, looking for a place to buy in the sunshine. We are fully self contained with no pets. Our last pets were a Poodle and a Maltese terrier and losing them was very very stressful. My bride is 76 and I am 77 years young. We we have been together since I was 16, married at 21. We are none smokers but enjoy a little tipple as my wife calls it. A bad day for us, is if we can't have a laugh.
We have been grey nomads since 2008 covering most of Australia. We have only done 2 house sitting jobs. It was for a lady with two homes Port Douglas and Noosa.
