We are "Pandemic Refugees", and have been stranded in Australia since March last year. My work has kept me busy, while my wife, who's here in Australia for the first time, is enjoying Australia. We've been staying at AirBnbs but thought this would be a great opportunity to help out others who might want to travel and work and also spend some time with some pets. My wife and I both love pets!

I am a mining engineer but involved in the technology side of things for much of my career, and have traveled extensively around the world. Sy is a yoga teacher with international certification.

Sy grew up on a farm, and is a passionate gardener with a green thumb. We spend much of our weekends turning cuttings into new plants. Sy's thumb is much greener than mine, so I tend to just do what she tells me to do in the garden.

We haven't been able to adopt any pets while we've been here in Australia, so it has been really just the two of us by ourselves. But we have a lot of love for animals - we have become vegetarian just because we hate seeing them suffer. Sy has always had dogs back in Vietnam. Because of my travel, I only get to share pets with her and with my family back in Canada. The dogs in the picture here are Georgia and Ruthie, two rescue dogs of my sister (sadly, Georgia has since left us). Sy's dog in Vietnam is Meimei, but the only picture we have of her right now is one where she's wearing a diaper (another story for another day).

We are quiet folks - we don't socialize much, and without any family here, we tend to be by ourselves most of the time. We do have some friends here in Perth, through my work, or from the yoga classes that Sy teaches, but we enjoy each other's company enough that we always stay busy on the weekends, often picking fruit, exploring markets, and just generally being grateful to be here!
