Hi, we are a young couple (non-smokers). Rick is the Director of a Landscape Design and Construction business and Katrina is a psychologist working in the public health sector. Rick’s working hours are flexible, including working from home while designing and quoting projects, and Katrina works part-time. We are currently saving to build our first home, so are looking to spend as much time as possible house sitting. We have both grown up with pets and understand they are a special part of the family. We also understand that being apart from your pets can be unsettling for owners and animals alike and appreciate the trust required to allow someone to take care of your home and cute companions.

As well as helping us save to build our own home, we also view house sitting as an opportunity to experience different areas of Melbourne and its surrounds. Plus, one of the things we’re most excited about in having our own home is being able to add pets to our family. In caring for your pets we are able to have a connection with animals while we are unable to have our own pets (due to limitations of having animals in rental properties). We also recognise the sense of security provided by knowing someone is looking after your home and meeting the needs of your pets. While animal shelters can provide practical necessities, we aim to provide a nurturing environment that also meets their emotional needs.

We have extensive experience with animals through both owning and house sitting pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, birds and mice. We are house proud and will work to maintain your home. We have a rental history that demonstrates our respect of others’ homes and good rapport with our landlords. Furthermore, Rick is a qualified tradesman and has practical skills to deal with any maintenance issues should they arise. In addition to caring for our own pets over the years, we have also engaged in several house sitting arrangements for family, friends and a colleague. We enjoy an active lifestyle and will ensure we meet your pet’s physical and play needs (including cuddles!). We recognise that consistency of routine is important to helping your pets feel secure, therefore will work to provide continuity. We understand all pets are different and will be flexible in adapting to their personalities and lifestyles.
