More information about this house sitter

Earlier this year I completed my Phd in the ecology of woodland birds at the Australian National University. I have now secured a three month contract with the NT Department of the Environment, Parks and Water Security, Flora and Fauna Division, starting on the 14th December. I’ll be involved in surveying threatened plant species in the Darwin region and will be based at the CSIRO Complex, 564 Vanderlin Drive, Berrimah. I’m therefore looking for housesits for all or part of the period I’ll be working.
Of Irish parents, I was born in the UK, spent several years in Sudan as a child and completed my schooling in London. After many years travelling on all five continents I settled in Australia in 2008 and have been a citizen since 2012. I am reliable, responsible, honest and diligent. I keep fit and drink little. I have practised yoga for 37 years and have been teaching yoga for 17 years.
My original degree from the University of Aberdeen was in agriculture, from where I moved into horticulture and for much of my life in the UK and Australia I ran a small business as a landscape gardener. I completed a Masters in Environmental Management from the University of Western Australia in 2014.
I have renovated two old houses in the UK and continue to own one of them, which has been rented out since I left the UK. I therefore have a practical knowledge of buildings and their facilities and appreciate the value of responsible tenants. I will look after your property as if it were my own.
Having grown up with family pets (including a golden retriever, three cats, a budgerigar, chooks and terrapins) I have been a keen animal lover all my life and in order to be consistent in my attitude towards animals I became a vegan in 1983. My scientific training has helped me appreciate that animals (especially vertebrates) have an advanced capacity to experience mental and physical pleasure and pain, and that they should be treated accordingly. I am also a keen birdwatcher, bushwalker and pianist.
