More information about this house sitter

We are a family (please keep reading, as we are different to a lot of families!) of 6. Mum (40) and Dad (42) who have 4 children (all girls) aged 12,10, 8 and 12 mths. Now, I know if I was a homeowner, looking for a housesitter I would switch off right here as I would be convinced I do not want a family to stay in my home.

BUT, please consider us.

We are currently housesitting in the south west of WA and due to finish our current sit on September 16th. We are hoping to stay in the South West area (prefer between Donnybrook and Bridgetown but consider all), otherwise would consider a Perth housesit if it was for a month or longer.

Their children are used to small spaces, and sharing rooms. They definitely do not need "a space of their own" and are used to bunking down on a mattress on the floor etc.

We are working our way around Australia, homeschooling our children whilst trying to spend fair amounts of time in each region. To really learn about communities, meet locals, make new friends and see things that aren't on the regular tourist track. Our plan is to remain in the south west region until late 2017 or into mid-2018 and then head to Perth for a short while, but plans are flexible.

Over the past 12 months, other housesits have included a permaculture farm - a one bedroom farmhouse - a draughty old shearing shed! - in Margaret River with 2 dogs, geese, ducks and chickens as well as pregnant cows (calving) and 3 ponies. Our responsibilities have been wide and varied - including the use of usual farm equipment such as ride on mower, chainsaw, etc. The farm had windmill, header tanks, compost toilet, compost heated shower, vegetable gardens, dams, fruit trees, bee hives, compost heaps and worm farms etc. We have cared for a lovely family homes in Geographe, Dunsborough, and lots of homes in Perth metro areas whilst we were selling our home and possessions (as our home had no fridge, no beds etc! by this stage - all sold) as well as a B&B in Bridgetown. These homes have had a variety of animals, required swimming pool care and maintenance and various other responsibilities.

We have great references that can be provided verbally or in writing by the homeowners.

We have sold nearly all our possessions and resigned from work as we travelling around Australia in our motorhome in 2016, 2017 and 2018 homeschooling our children and providing WWOOF (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) assistance.

We have experience with dogs, cats, chickens, fish and other small animals and maintain water tanks/solar array, etc at our current property. We are very keen to learn the care of other animals including larger animals. Since beginning our travels, we have been gently introduced to the larger breeds with house cows and paddock fed steers, bombproof ponies, alpacas, friendly sheep etc. We have no hesitation with checking dams, electric fences, using a tractor and the like. Our middle daughter has just started horse riding lessons. We are very interested in permaculture and gardens, though we are very happy to take care of a low maintenance property also. We are very non-judgemental, and would also be happy to take care of a house with a terrible garden or that is old or in need of repair.

Whilst we do have children, they are respectful children who would never dream to damage furniture or draw on walls etc. We would be very happy for them to meet with you whilst you consider our application. They can swim and we don't have concerns with unfenced dams/electric fences etc. We are proud of our children, and we have been invited back to previous housesits so please don't rule us out because of our children! The kids have temporarily enrolled in school since we have been in one area for a while.

We are non-smokers, and pet lovers. Jonathan has just finished working in preparation for our big trip around Australia, after a career as a commercial pilot and Carla has also just finished assisting with a Whole and Natural Foods Chef Training Course. We have financial backing to support us, and are very reliable professional couple with children.

Jonathan is a Field Search Controller with the State Emergency Service, so has appropriate police clearances and references etc, and Carla will be happy to provide police clearances or others if required.

We do own a motorhome, which we could use to live in if there was a suitable place to park it. We would just need access to power and a water connection. We would prefer to live in a home if possible, as we are about to spend years living in our bus but would be open to chatting about any possibilities. We have somewhere else we are able to park our bus if you don't have a suitable place at your property. We have our own modern vehicle.

We would really appreciate you considering our application and look forward to hearing of any opportunities. More information can be readily provided. We really are very flexible so would love to hear from you, even if the details seem different to described above.

Thanks for reading!
Carla, Jono, Sophie, Tessa, Megan and Holly.
