More information about this house sitter
My name is Shelly
I see animals displaying the same emotions that humans have - except they can't talk. They have similar needs that humans have - to be properly fed, walked (some twice/day), loved, exercised, or played with (a ball etc) - or simply nurtured with loving strokes.
Animals - similar to elderly folks - know their routine.
51yo, no children, n/s. Have my own business.
AGED PETS / SCARED CATS
I understand aged dogs - especially if they are arthritic or have a weak digestive system and need food cooked up for them (chicken, rice, fish). Also am attentive when it comes to special supplements/medications.
Have had experience in minding very timid cats, (usually from abuse from previous owner). Cats have their own terms that humans need to understand.
Dogs also look forward to their walks. I had 3 neighbours tell me that they wondered why it had become so quiet since I had moved in (during a housesit), as the dogs weren't usually walked, and barked all day because they were bored - but not with me.
I love animals as if they are human.
I STRIVE TO:
- Leave your home as clean when I found it,
- Am Green or power conscious (no need for appliances running in an empty room. I turn them off)
- To put you at ease on your return to know your home was respected. I understand this having met a wonderful housesitter myself. It was a breath of fresh air to return home to.
YARD CARE
I can mow lawns too - whether a small mower or ride-on.
CONTRIBUTIONS
If the housesit is on a long term basis, I am happy to pay for gas, internet or electricity used in either summer or winter. (I can demonstrate that I have paid owner's Council's rates.

CONCERNS YOU AS A HOMEOWNER MIGHT HAVE
If you are new to this, and haven't had a housesitter in your home before, you are likely to have some concerns, which I will address.
WON'T MY PETS FRET WITHOUT ME AROUND?
I would describe animals as 'distracted' when a new person comes into their homes to mind them. They and the housesitter will quickly establish terms, etc. Once pets are into their routine, it's not long before they welcome the new minder when she comes in the door from shopping etc. They then appear rather settled as having someone around them is a comfort. Don't worry, I'm sure they'll remember you when you come home.
WILL THE HOUSESITTER ABUSE YOUR ANIMAL?
If the housesitter wants further housesits (and remember they get free rent), then abusing any animals is likely to show up in the animal's behaviour when you return. The housesitter who does this, will soon be in trouble.
I find many animals to be fair and reasonable. Where the dog has NOT been trained, then the use of treats or a firm voice is effective. Where the animal is already obedient, then a firm voice is not required, but reinforcing good behaviour and talking positively to them is all that is needed. Read more...
