More information about this house sitter

Hello Home Owner!
We greatly appreciate the opportunity to look after your home and be your temporary caretaker of your dear pets, lovely home, plants, mail and anything else that we can share the love with! To be able to stay a little while in your home allows us the chance to make careful decisions about our future in Canberra. For this we are very grateful.

We are a couple of big softies who, about 18 months ago, packed up our corporate city life to move to an amazing part of the earth to volunteer, breathe, & re-set. We are now back in Australia and are looking to slowly re-introduce ourselves to a life less hectic than before we left. The plan for 2017 is to make thoughtful and considered decisions on where to live, (so far we've decided to move to Canberra and get away from Sydney's hustle and bustle) As of April 2017, we both have secured part-time work in our industries, which is mostly online. We are now much more humble & grateful for the quality of life that Australia offers.

Hamish is a boy from Durban, South Africa, big, gentle and kind like Yogi Bear. 20 Years now in Oz and he still loves discovering all our weird but wonderful Australian native animals. Nothing much ruffles him, he's a very capable and calm guy and is happy to his hands dirty, but he is also a miracle worker with a vacuum cleaner!

I am a Sydney girl, Australian at heart but have let my travels to over 50 other countries mould me. I'm the kind of girl that stops to talk to every animal I see and Hamish is the warm soul by my side that always waits patiently as I chat away in cat or dog noises to a furry friend. I've grown up with Cat's as family members for my whole life, where as Hamish had gorgeous Dogs. As adults, due to city apartment living, we were limited on pet choices, so for the first 7 years of marriage we saturated with love a crazy Brick-face Persian cat from kitten age. The hardest thing about leaving Australia for the 3rd world, was not quitting jobs and packing our life up - it was leaving our fur ball with my parents. So after arriving overseas, it only took 2 months and we rescued an abandoned kitten and gave her a home and she gave us her cat heart. We love Cats.. but we love Dogs. Actually. Ok, we admit it, we love all animals!

We have been married for almost 9 years, lived in 2 apartments in Sydney city and regularly stayed in friends, relatives and friends of friends houses over summers and long weekends to mind their plants, pets and keep pools clean. We always valued the trust people placed in us to care for their houses and pets like they were our own. We both like a tidy environment to come home to, so clean up continually to keep order reigning supreme - and it helps pets keep calm too if everything is in its place. We are non smokers, no allergies, we crave fresh air, natural light and after living in the city for years, we are methodical with keys, locks, security and understand it's essential to have a good routine for pets.

We invite your questions or requests for more info, we are happy to face-time or chat, whatever is going to make you feel excited and relieved about leaving your home in good hands.

Update June 26 2017 :
We have now house & cat-sit in Macgregor for 6 weeks and have glowing references from owners Glenn and Tenai. We cared for and fell in love with their 15 year old moggy, who was on his last legs and needed daily meds and regular fresh meals, litter changing and cuddles. It was an emotional goodbye and he is in our hearts.

We now are house sitting in Griffith till Jul 14th and are caring for a stunning Springer Spaniel called Gracie and a gorgeous home with both a new and established gardens. Daily walks, doggie talks, we are loving the joy that a happy dog brings us!

We have our two Canberra house sit references, plus character references from our careers ,family and friends, also AirBNB reviews and LinkedIn profiles. You are welcome to ask for contact details or links.

Thank you for considering to open up your home to us. We promise to respect everything inside your walls, including you, and hope to help you have peace of mind whilst you are away.

Please feel free to get in touch anytime.

Warm regards,

Courtney & Hamish
