Status update 2024:

From Melbourne, we shall not venture north with our caravan until late-June 2024 and so far have our regular booking at Charters Towers in Jul/Aug 2024.

Last year we completed our regular booking at Charters Towers for Jul/Aug 2023.

During 2022 were booked for 3 sits in Qld covering nearly 3 months and also overnighted at some older sits for a catch-up chat :)

During 2021 were booked for 3 very successful sits in Qld covering nearly 3 months. We had a similar 3 month winter sit program in 2019 but the pandemic put paid to winter 2020.

In winter 2019 we successfully completed 2 farm sits and 1 rural house sit all entailing multiple responsibilities. In 2121 we were engaged for 3 house sits, including 27 days at Charters Towers, 10 days at Mt Jukes and 3 weeks at Townsville. Pets, horses and extensive gardens cared for.

Background: My wife of 45 years is a meticulous home keeper and keen gardener. She has a current working with children accreditation.

I have been retired 23 years with 42 years of experience in managing and maintaining aviation ground equipment for Airservices Australia. Other skills include IT (computer stuff) carpentry, electrical, vehicle maint, plumbing, welding, farming and a few more that could be handy to be able to help in a house or farm sit scenario.

During our 47 years living on our Melbourne 15 acre property we have had beef cattle, dogs, cats, chooks and a lot of native birds. Once we even had a milking cow and that was my daily job. Since 2021 we have a friend's horses resident to keep a regular eye upon and to feed the odd carrot :)

After caravanning began we stopped replacing pets. We have no desire to ever travel with pets out of respect for them. We are non-smokers.

We have been caravanning for 20 years covering over 150,000 kms all around Oz. We spend 2 to 4 months away from home each winter.

As house sitters we INSIST upon living in our own caravan at ALL times needing only access to a house toilet. Washing machine access would be a bonus. So we need a parking space for the rig with power and water connections.

Also critical is a reliable Telstra mobile phone signal but if not then access to WiFi as I am a computer nerd :)

We have both been Covid vaccinated 5 times with our 3rd booster jabs received in Feb 2023 and Flu jab this month. Read more...
