Jan & Hart - our profile
Hi, we are a retired couple aged 72 and 70 years YOUNG. We live in Victoria but like to get away up North from June to September or so. We have our caravan for travelling but can store it at local caravan park while caring for your home if room is a problem. We have our little travelling mate, Zac, a 6yr Foxy/Jack Russell cross that adores people and all other dogs, doesn't mind cats either, he is fully house trained but loves a yard as well. For house sits Melbourne area, we can sometimes sit with or without our dog. We like a clean house and a tidy garden so will care for yours as our own. We have grown our own vegies for many years. Our roses have also been the talk of the street. We trained, showed and bred German Shepherds many years ago so have a great love of all animals. We were obedience instructors at the German Shepherd Dog Club. Having had children we have cared for the usual cats, rabbits, mice, cockatoos, fish and you name it. We are also Non-Smokers. Willing to do short sits (a week or so) within a days travel of Ballarat, and from 2 weeks to 6 months anywhere else. Janice - I have had a police check as I have a "work with children" clearance. Hart - is willing to get Police Check if needed. Records of recent Sits and references below; contact details given on request.
HOUSE SITS WE HAVE HAD SINCE 2011 The following are records of previous sits we have had. Full names and contact details have been removed to protect our client's privacy as per Aussie House Sitter rules. Details available on request.

HOUSE SIT; ABBOTSFORD VICTORIA - Nov. 2011 A lovely quiet House Sit in an inner Melbourne suburb, no pets just our own little Zac but a secure yard so we could leave him for day trips. A small garden to care for and loved the hustle and bustle of the inner city. A lovely old home that had been fully renovated by the owners.
REFERENCE - To Whom It May Concern My wife and I have always had some feelings of anxiety when leaving our house and garden for any length of time; the garden dries out and who knows, who is taking an interest in your house during your absence. We had the good fortune recently to be introduced to Jan and Hart who declared themselves willing to look after our home during our absence. On the day of our departure, they arrived early with their little dog who made himself comfortable in a corner in the kitchen and we left. Not much more can be said other than to mention that when we came back home, the house had been looked after very well and the garden seemed a bit greener. We have no hesitation to recommend them to anyone who requires a house sitter. regards, Bernard

Cobram/Barooga - May 2012 Lovely house/pet sit, enjoyed walking the dogs along the river, also had a cat to feed and a fish. Plenty of leaves to rake as it was Autumn. Our dog got on well with the other animals.
REFERENCE - To whom it may concern - If anyone is looking for a Pet/House sitter I can highly recommend Jan & Hart, they have loved our pets while we have been away for the past two weeks, they adore dogs, Freddy & Gracie couldn't have been in better hands, they were walked regularly and certainly spoiled, I'm sure Freddy will miss his cuddles with Hart as much as Hart will miss them. They left the house cleaner than when we left, we are very happy to have had them stay and would definitely use them again should they be available. Kind regards Bec & Mark & Family.

Brisbane 6 weeks Aug/Oct 2012. two short sits in 2013., again in Sept. 2014. and June 2015. House sit and care for a Portugese Water Dog called Naddy.

REFERENCE - To whom it may concern Reference: Jan and Hart, Valmae and I in planning our recent six week holiday were concerned about the well being of our dog and plants, not to mention the security of our home in our absence. Spurred on by the success my business partner had had with a house sitter we advertised on the Aussie House Sitters web site. Jan and Hart were the first to respond and looked the most suitable. We communicated with Jan and Hart for several months and then a month before our departure they visited on their way north. We bonded quickly and now regard them as friends. We found them considerate and kind. Upon our return we found our house almost exactly as we had left it (I say almost as it was actually cleaner). Our neighbours were also very taken by them, and told me what nice friends we had. One of my concerns about using a house sitter was the feeling of intrusion we might have after strangers had lived in our house for a period of time, I need not have worried we returned to our house with everything exactly where it had been before our departure. If you are considering using Jan, Hart and do not forget Zac to sit your home, you will not be disappointed, they are great. However, if you need further reassurance, please feel free to contact me via email or phone. Yours sincerely Harley.

ROBE; South Australia, March 2013, a lovely house/doggy/duck sit that we thoroughly enjoyed. We had 18 nights on a 4 acre farmlet.
REFERENCE - 10/4/2013. We were so blessed to come across Jan and Hart on the 'Aussie House Sitters' website, earlier this year. They came a couple of days earlier at our request, to get the run of things and to see where we take our dogs (2 big Golden Retrievers), for scrub walks etc. They also had access to our Nissan Patrol to take dogs to beach. Our home, dogs, ducks and 4WD were wonderfully taken care of, and we were able to go away on our holiday without worrying about a thing. They brought little Zac, who is gorgeous and was no trouble in the house at all. We all 'clicked' straight away and feel we have made new friends. Jan even had a hot evening meal prepared when we arrived back home. Doug and I would certainly recommend Hart and Jan as excellent house and dog sitters, and I have told many others about the Aussie House Sitters website. Regards Doug & Rita

House/Doggy sat June 2014 in Emerald Queensland, and again in August 2015. Contact details available if required.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Jan, Hart and Zac have been our house sitters for the past two years. We can recommend them as house sitters for anyone else seeking this help in the future.

Jan, Hart and Zac have looked after our house and elderly dogs while we have been away for a month each time over the past two years. Last year they helped with both Homer and Buster - Homer was a bit senile and very fragile and they treated him with great care and consideration, helping him up the stairs and making sure he didn't get too confused as well as taking him for his slow and ponderous walks. Unfortunately, Homer was no longer with us this year, so it was just Buster who needed to be looked after. He and Zac got on very well and they both enjoyed one another's company - providing a great companion for Buster while we were away. It gave him a holiday too.

Although our animals are our top priority, the house and its security is also important while we are away. Jan and Hart took good care of our home and everything in it. It is a pleasure to arrive back from a holiday to a clean and dust free home, knowing that any problems which might have arisen in our absence have been dealt with promptly and efficiently. Jan has an excellent system which means that all laundry has been done and there is nothing to clear up when we arrive home.

We can strongly recommend Jan and Hart as house sitters - we will certainly ask them to come again should we decide to go away for a protracted period next year.

Julia, Tony and Buster

House/doggy sit Canberra Sept. 2014 and again in 2015 - please see "endorsements" for reference by Bronwyn.

House/Doggy sit Hurstbridge, Melbourne, Victoria. January 2015.
Great house/doggy sit, enjoyed it, lovely village atmosphere.
REFERENCE -
Jan, Hart and Zac, (their dog), came to look after our house, veggie gardens and Chester, (our dog), for a week in January, 2015.
It was our first Aussie Housesit experience. Chester, (Australian terrier x Jack Russell), can be choosey about which dogs he gets on with. He is not always welcoming to house visitors on their initial visit, so I was a bit worried about how things might go.
Jan advised me to prepare notes and kept in contact, so all the details were sorted by the time they arrived.
We met at the local doggy park. I knew all was well when Chester went straight over and sat under the seat Hart was on. The dogs happily greeted each other and walked home together.
Jan, Hart, Zac and Chester had a lovely time. Jan sent me a couple of photos over the afternoon, once I'd gone, to reassure me that all was well. We had a great holiday, knowing that all at home was taken care of.
When we returned, the house was clean, the garden was healthy and Chester was better behaved than before we went away. Jan and Hart left notes outlining relevant things from the week, such as which days Chester had been given his herbal anti-heartworm and flea-repellant drops.
I would highly recommend Jan, Hart and Zac as house-sitters. They are lovely folk, with a special affinity for dogs, as Chester will attest.
Kerry, Hurstbridge.

BRONWYN - JERRABOMBERRA ACT
SIT DATE: Sep 2014
Jan and Hart have now done 2 house sits for us. One in 2014 and now in 2015. What a fabulous couple they are...not to mention their little chap Zac. We have 2 spoilt rotten beagles and a large house. We came home to an immaculate house and 2 better behaved beagles ( Hart we take our hat off to you!). I would highly recommend Jan and Hart as guests in your home and we only wish that Canberra was a more exciting place to entice them back. I am happy to be contacted personally for references.
