More information about this house sitter

Introducing Geelong locals, 30 yo male and female couple, Taylor and Cathryn. A calm & quiet couple saving for their first home, available to homes within the Geelong region.

About Us
Hello! Thank you for taking the time to consider our application. My name is Cathryn. We have years of experience within the house sitting gig economy (perfect record) and we are looking for
house sitting opportunities to experience living in different suburbs and streets to help us decide where we would like to buy our first home.

We have been pet sitting and house sitting since 2016 via Pawshake. We have excellent reviews and would love to help you enjoy your time away knowing that your home is being cared for at the highest standard.

I have put together a list of dot points below to help summarise 'about us' and what we are looking for.

Please feel free to contact me for further information or to arrange a meeting. I am happy to meet in person, over the phone, or by video.

You can trust us to care for your home because...

We hold reputable roles in our community!
• I am employed at a local pharmacy on the Bellarine. Prior to this I was an executive assistant for the Corporate team at Barwon Health. I have a medical student background, where I undertook training at Geelong Hospital through Deakin University. I am passionate about community health and believe accessible healthcare is an essential aspect of a thriving community.
• Taylor works full-time as a prison officer helping keep the community safe. He is passionate about minimising re-offending and supporting rehabilitation.
• Both of us hold a current Police Check and a totally clean record.
• Taylor holds a current Working with Children check and I can renew mine anytime.
• Taylor is a proud member of the local field hockey club.
• I help care for my sisters ponies and my old retired horse who lives on the Bellarine.

We are very house-proud!
• You will return to a clean home and a thriving garden. You will not be disappointed.
I am extremely house-proud. I am known to leave my rental properties cleaner than they were before I moved in!

We maintain a simple and respectful lifestyle.
• We are non-smokers
• We do not have children. Your home and your pets get 100% of our attention as our first priority.
• We have no pets of our own.
• We are fully COVID vaccinated and compliant.

We like the quiet.
• You (and your neighbours) will be happy to know that we do not have big gatherings or parties, play loud music or swear and yell.
• We do not play the drums or the saxophone! We play the acoustic guitar. No amplified electric guitar midnight sessions here.
• We have a small hatchback car and a dual cab UTE. No loud exhausts or fully-sick sub-woofer to break sound barriers.

We are very 'safety and security' minded.
• I love gardening and maintaining the home. This means your house and garden will stay well cared for.
• Your home will be kept is secure because we follow safety measures. I have fire blankets, bed-time lock up routines, and security routines before leaving the house. We do not leave windows or doors unlocked.
• I have fully embraced the COVID life and avoid events or external commitments that take me away from home.
• My hobbies involve either my horses, gardening, or caring for any pets.

We have excellent references.
• We have an excellent rental record with outstanding references. Our referees include landlords, real-estate agents, housemates and Pawshake clients.
• We hold over 30 positive 5 star reviews via Pawshake profile (paid pet & house sitting). Please view our profile!

We are locals and love Geelong.
• I have lived in Geelong since I was 14 years old. I adore the region and look forward to many more memories here with my family and friends.
• Taylor and I plan to continue to live in the Geelong region.

We can provide video 'check-ups' or photos while we stay.
• We are very happy to have regular video catch ups while we stay at your home. This means you can see how well cared for the house is, and your pets are, while we stay.
• We uphold strong moral and ethical values. We respect that this arrangement is as important to you as it is to us! Reliability, communication, respect and transparency is essential at all times.

If you have pets, then even better!
• We do not have any pets of our own but we love looking after animals and we would be delighted if you had animals to keep us company.
• I am confident with taking care of higher needs pets / complex health conditions. I have a medical student background and hold a Biomedical Science degree. I am quiet and patient. I often receive positive feedback from owners of typically anxious or grumpy pets who have noticed their pet ‘doesn’t seem to mind you’!
• I can take care of small ‘pocket’ pets & cats and dogs. I grew up on a farm and have owned animals all my life. I have owned mice, guinea pigs, chickens, quail, budgies, rabbits, lizards, fish, cats, dogs, sheep, cows, horses, and donkeys.

What next?
Arrange a meet and greet!

I absolutely encourage an obligation-free, no expectation meeting, or several! You are welcome to visit us at our house where we are currently renting, meet at your home, or talk over a coffee, in-person or via video.

We understand that this arrangement is a huge act of trust for both parties. We want to make sure you are completely happy and that we are the right people to look after your home. If there is anything you would like us to consider, please do not hesitate to ask.

We can housesit your home for a shorter trial period to build trust. We are also happy to stay with you while you are still at home if you feel it would be beneficial. You can fully integrate us into the routine we are expected to maintain while you are away.

How to prepare your home?
Please consider the following points when preparing your home for housesitting. This is especially important for longer bookings greater than two weeks in duration.
• The best preparation is being upfront and respectful. There is no need to be 'too' polite and be left wondering. Write everything down if you prefer or ask us to complete some questions in writing.
• Consider who will be paying for living expenses while you are away. For example who covers the electricity, water, gas, telephone, internet bills? Make sure this is all clearly agreed upon.
• What items or places in the house are off-limits? Make sure these are clearly agreed upon.
• What items are we expected to bring? For example we would provide our own sheets and groceries. Will we need to bring in a bed or will there be a bedroom set-up?

What happens if you need to cancel your booking?

Please tell us as soon as possible if there is any chance that dates might change or a housesit may need to be cancelled. We understand that serious circumstances can get in the way, especially due to COVID considerations. We will do everything in our power to prevent anything interfering with our commitment. We kindly ask that you do the same.

THANK YOU!
We are friendly, flexible and tolerant, despite this very specific and detailed profile! I have written such an extensive profile to make sure we all have the same expectations and to make the experience pleasant. It also helps to waste less of your time.

COVID Considerations ...

Please follow the current COVID safe guidelines at the meet & greet.

We are fully COVID vaccinated.

Please do not hesitate to contact us! Looking forward to hearing from you,

Cathryn and Taylor.
