More information about this house sitter
My name is Sharon (56yrs), originally from the UK, I absolutely love animals and enjoy housesitting, having carried out assignments in Auckland, New Zealand and now WA, Victoria and NSW. I consider NZ home after 16yrs, however, love Australia and would like to create a life here and see where it leads.
I arrived in Perth at the end of March 2019 and housesat for the first 7months. I settled in Mandurah, WA, for 2yrs and worked full-time. I am now keen to find my place on the stunning East Coast. I have driven over from WA and have experienced housesits in Mildura, VIC, Geurie, Denman, Batemans Bay, Newcastle (3months) and Port Macquarie (2.5months) NSW. I am looking to settle in the Tweed Heads area so would appreciate the opportunity to housesit between Coffs Harbour and the Gold Coast until I find my place.
I have had great experiences housesitting, meeting some lovely people and being totally trusted to take care of cats, dogs, horses, chickens, sheep, fish and a Llama and I absolutely love it! I especially enjoy being able to give people peace of mind whilst they are away, knowing their pets and home are safe and being well cared for. I really appreciate how important this is. I can provide excellent references.
I am a kind natured person, quiet but friendly, easy going and happy at home in the company of animals and being out in nature. I am self-sufficient, sensible, and great at problem solving, so can deal with issues should they arise. I am tech savvy and happy to send photos or WhatsApp to keep you in touch with your pets :)
I have owned 3 homes in the UK and have rented 3 properties in NZ, always long term and on good terms with the landlords, due to the pride I take in caring for and maintaining a property both inside and out. I enjoy spring cleaning and keeping a tidy garden. I have lived on larger properties with water tanks and retic, so am very capable and can use a ride on mower, whipper snipper etc.
I am eco-friendly, love nature, sailing, music, art and have an interest in natural health. As a Reiki practitioner, I have provided Reiki to patients at the local Hospice and organised Natural Therapy talks to schools around Auckland, that are still being carried out today.
I have always been an animal lover, having had dogs growing up but never been in a position to own one myself, so have always had to borrow family/friends' dogs for walks etc. Cats found me when I moved to NZ, and I have taken in a number of abandoned kitties. I have also spent time volunteering at cat rescues too, so I have the gentle, patient nature required to make all animals feel loved and quickly at ease.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I am travelling with my 2 rescue cats, which I appreciate is a little unusual! They are amazing and not your average cats, they settle within days and respect their new spaces. It is much easier than I imagined! I have 1 very easy going boy Sambuka (14yrs) and a timid female Tinkerbell (approx 8yrs). They are well fed, do not hunt wildlife, and do not wander far from me. I can, in fact, walk them (like dogs), as I have treated them this way since living on large properties in NZ and they will follow me anywhere. They pretty much find a favourite spot in the garden close to the house, sleep and eat! (It's true cats do sleep between 18-20 hrs a day if not more!) I am meticulously clean, have all my own bedding, blankets, throws and they have their favourite beds.
I totally understand your home is your pets home first and foremost. I take time and care to ensure introductions are done at a gentle pace, so that there is no stress. My cats are very sweet, sensitive, gentle natured and run from confrontation. They will appreciate your pets territory and find their own quiet, safe spaces and are very adaptable to whatever space is available.
I take the responsibility of housesitting seriously, so would never leave your pets or home unattended for long periods or overnight. I hope I have provided enough information to assure you that I am an open, honest person, totally reliable and trustworthy.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask, as I appreciate this is most important when entrusting your home and pets to a stranger. I am happy to arrange a visit within a reasonable distance or video call if not.
I am a non-smoker and can only accept assignments in non-smoking homes as I am sensitive to smoke and the smell of nicotine sorry :)
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I look forward to hearing from you!
