Hello! We’re Laya and Yuko :-)

A little bit about us...

Laine is a primary school teacher, born and raised in the Whitsundays, and has spent much of her adult life traveling Australia coast to coast. Recently, with our rental lease (our lovely home for 5 years) coming to an end, and after saying goodbye to our beloved old dog, life gently nudged us into a new chapter of travel, simplicity and exploration.

Yuko is originally from Tokyo and brings a wonderful mix of calm, care and attention to detail. She is a professional cleaner, as well as a Japanese translator and language tutor, so looking after a home to a high standard is second nature to her. Together, we also run a small boutique health and wellness business as a side hustle, which reflects our shared values around responsibility, reliability and mindful living.

Between us, we have confidence and experience caring for a wide range of animals, including dogs (big and small), cats, birds, reptiles and chickens. We’re comfortable with feeding routines, medications, exercise, enrichment and keeping animals settled and happy in their familiar environment.
Laya also has hands-on experience with horses from her former years of equestrian riding and is confident around large animals and their care routines.

We’re equally comfortable caring for the home and property itself - including using mowers and whipper-snippers, tending to gardens, and keeping everything safe and well-maintained while you’re away.

When we’re not house-sitting, you’ll find us camping under the stars, exploring new places, keeping active, creating music, practicing photography, and enjoying the quieter, more grounded side of life.
