Hello! I'm Sonya. I'm an independent professional working in local government and consulting for the last 14 years. I'm based in southern Tasmania and have been providing house-sitting services on and off for a while now. I started by helping friends and family, then sat while holidaying and now I house-sit permanently in southern Tasmania and while on holiday in other areas of the state.

I mostly sit to cover extended travel stints of a month or more at a time and as I'm local I can come and meet you, your pets and see your property before a house-sit.

I have lived and travelled overseas, hosted international students and house sat in Sydney for members of the Sydney Symphony (when I was young!). I've house sat previously in Tasmania, Brisbane and the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, and my uncle and aunty's property in Coffs Harbour NSW during the bush fires......They were enjoying beers on a snowcapped mountain in Europe at the time!

I have had British bulldogs and a cat as pets but have house sat with dogs, cats, chooks and sheep.

I enjoy getting to know new people and places while still having my own space. I've found house sitting an excellent way to feel at home away from home; I think it's because I care for the home as if it was my own, pets make it seem homely, and a few garden responsibilities also add to the experience. Weeding and watering is a bit of a favourite thing to do, accompanied by a Podcast or some music. I also have an interest in bushwalking and house-sitting has allowed me to explore the many fabulous day walks across Tasmania.

Music and the arts are important to me. Food, film, concerts, exhibitions - all that stuff I crave.

I believe in healthy living and love being in the outdoors, particularly the beach and bush. I don't smoke. I do enjoy a glass of wine but nothing beats a good cuppa.

I'm a good communicator and am more than happy to provide updates while you're away, or just leave you to it. I appreciate the house-sitting relationship is a special one, based on trust and mutual respect, and I value clear communication to ensure you feel secure with me and I feel trusted and can relax in your space.
