Hello!

We’re Alan and Anna, a mature couple from Brighton, England.

Anna is a speech and language therapist and volunteer English teacher and Alan is a carpenter and project manager. We have enjoyed restoring several houses together, turning them into comfortable, happy homes. We are practical, self-sufficient, clean and tidy and really enjoy a good laugh! We are animal lovers and have had many pets over the years, though more recently we have had to share friends’ and neighbours’ pets due to long working hours away from the house.

In 2015 we found tenants for our lovely house and set off with a one way ticket to Mexico: the start of our world travels, which have so far taken us through Central and South America, learning Spanish along the way, South East Asia and Japan.

So, why do we want to look after your house and pets? Staying in a cosy rented cottage in Central America, the person responsible for housesitting the main property and looking after the gorgeous dog and cat turned out to be a disaster. When the owner contacted us from abroad, asking us if we could step in, we did. We loved the experience, realising just how much we missed living with pets. As homeowners ourselves, we understand how important it is to have security and peace of mind, knowing that your cherished home and possessions and beloved pets are in good, caring, capable and responsible hands. Living for a while in one place means that we can really get a feel for it. We love to ‘live like locals’ as far as that’s possible, enjoying everyday things like cooking, shopping, spending time with pets and just being ‘at home’.

We’ve enjoyed many more long- and short-term house and pet sits since then, including an apartment with a pregnant cat who gave birth to five kittens while in our care, an eco house in the mountains of Ecuador, where we romped for hours with an amazing, big and energetic dog, and a family home in Guatemala, with a wonderful dog to whom we had to administer daily medication.....and, of course, lots of cuddles!

We love the fact that house and pet sitting can allow deeper interactions with communities, which may lead to lasting friendships, in addition to providing the opportunity to spend precious time with animals. We are honest, trustworthy, friendly and fun-loving, fit and healthy (non-smokers and vegetarian). We would truly welcome the opportunity to look after your home and pets and would be very happy to update you while you are away. We can provide excellent references.
