More information about this house sitter

Maurice and I live in a beautiful country town in Cambridge, New Zealand. My husband Maurice grew up in Petone. After leaving school he qualified as an A grade mechanic. He worked for the Ford Motor Company in a managerial role for 21 years before transferring to Toyota New Zealand. He moved to Palmerston North in the late 1980s where he worked as the supply and planning manager. We both moved to Taupo after retiring.

My name is Carole and I grew up on a farm near Palmerston North where I enjoyed helping on the farm, driving the tractor and caring for the animals. We had dogs, cats, sheep, cows and a family goat. I lived in Palmerston North until our move to Taupo. I went on to become a registered nurse and later a nursing tutor. I completed a BA at Massey University. For nine years I owned and operated a franchise in Palmerston North in the Plaza. It was a bookshop known as London Bookshop.

Maurice and I enjoy animals and take care to look after other people's property as we would our own. We have recently moved to Cambridge to be closer to Auckland where our family lives. We also have three families in Australia. Perth and Sydney. After seven years of caravanning we sold our caravan and thought house sitting would be a great way to have a break from home while meeting a new family. We have enjoyed many home exchanges - in Australia, South Africa, New York, USA and Canada. We have loved meeting the owners and finding out how much we have in common. They have always commented on the great way we look after their house. We love it at Lauriston Park, Cambridge where we are now living. I am Secretary/treasurer and hall custodian for the Senior Citizens Hall in Cambridge. Maurice is a member of the Cambridge Rotary. We have done many house sits in the Auckland region and especially remember one of our house sits which included two donkeys, sheep, cats aviaries and geese. The owners were very happy with the way we managed the animals. We are very particular when caring for your home ensuring everything is well looked after.

Our activities include photography, walking, cycling, swimming, reading, cruising and caravanning. We recently completed the Otago Rail Trail and have also ridden the many cycle trails in the Hawkes Bay. We are fit and able and want to remain that way for as long as possible. We have a zest for life and adventure.
