Hello! We are a very fit and active married couple (Mary-Jane, 53 yrs and Ashley, 58yrs young) leading active lives on the Gold Coast and house-sitting in various parts of the world!
Ashley has recently retired after a very respectable 40 years in the Australian Army as an Officer (Engineers) and Mary-Jane works now just works in a very fulfilling role as a private nanny . Now that our six children have flown the nest, and with no strict work commitments, we love experiencing other life-styles and cultures. We both have a keen sense of adventure and we developing new friendships. Mindahome is providing an excellent service for both house-sitter and home-owners to try something new.
We are loving the adventure of pet and house sitting and to be able to to provide a service and to see the local area. To be able to 'live like a local' and experience other cultures, cuisine and the way other people live, is how we prefer to see the world these days. We think it is a great way to experience different places and  people and not dash around like mad things seeing 4 countries in a day!.
We experienced our first house-sitting adventure in 2012 - a wonderful French adventure in the midi-Pyrenees for 6 weeks. This involved caring for 11 chickens, 4 pigs, 3 dogs, 2 cats and a donkey! We also did a few other jobs around the property and have made life-long friends with the owners. We next did an amazing 7 weeks in North Yorkshire in Dec-Jan 2013 and we are back for a repeat performance right now for 6 weeks. In the meantime, these people also came out to stay with us in Australia for two weeks in November.
We did a life-style block house/animal-sit in Nelson, NZ in August 2014 where we were in charge of minding 30 odd chickens, roosters and ducks, two cows (one pregnant), two sheep (one pregnant), goats and a pussy cat. It was another wonderful adventure for two and a half weeks.
2015 involved 5 day - month long sits on the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Newcastle.
2016 Mary-Jane did house-sits at Peregian Beach for 2 weeks over new year and 2 weeks in Townsville in Sept. Very hot! !!
We've just arrived home from a 4 week house-sit in Chrustchurch. (Dec-Jan 2017)

We are a quiet living, respectful, non-smoking couple. We will treat your property with care and respect, the way we do our own. Ashley and I are both very fit and active people and can easily manage any challenges of your property or district. We will be extremely careful in your home and be attentive to your pets. We will meet your requirements and can assure you of your peace of mind and security.
Knowing that we would allow 'the right people' house-sit for us, we hope that the feeling will be reciprocated when other home-owners read our profile.

3 Oyster Cove, Gold Coast May 2014 for 4 weeks looking after two adorable burmese cats for John and Andrea

4 Currimundi, Sunshine Coast July 2014 for 9 days minding G Star the cat and Louie the sausage dog for Julie and Sacha.

5. Bolton Point, Newcastle July 2014 for 2.5 weeks looking after a beautiful 'bitsa' called Sasha for Lynette and Roger.

6. Nelson (Wakefield) , NZ for 3 weeks looking after 30 odd chickens, roosters, guinea fowl and ducks, two cows (one pregnant!!), two sheep (one pregnant!), 3 goats (one very on heat girl who kept jumping the fence to find the horny bucks up the hill!) and a lovely pussy cat for Rikki and John.

8 Newcastle, NSW for 4 days in January 2015 minding two dogs for Felicity


9 Back in Yorkshire again minding Tilly and Dolly for our second house-sitting stint for Meg and Gordon, who have become life-long friends and came out to stay at our place in Brisbane for two weeks in November 2014!

10. Port Douglas for a month August 2015 minding two gorgeous English Springer spaniels Hank and Dixie.

11. 10 days at Peregian Beach over new year 2016 mind Link, a very cool pooch who required two big beach walks and ball playing each day.

12. 5 days at Oxenford for two lovely dogs - a boxer called and a terrier called Ella.

2 weeks in Townsville in Sept 2016 minding one gorgeous Sharpei called Squishy and thror lovely home.

4 weeks on Christchurch minding two super active little guys - a Jack Russell called Smudge and a Puchon (pug-bichon) called Rosa. Read more...
