More information about this house sitter

Hello! I'm Amanda. My Mum, Yvonne, & I are a responsible, reliable, quiet & considerate duo who would like to take great care of your home & your fur children. (**Sadly, Amanda's recently developed reaction to the protein in dog saliva means we are not taking dog sits at this time)

You can expect your pets to be played with & talked to constantly (you KNOW they talk back!) We have recently moved from Katoomba, NSW to QLD & would like to help with short or long-term sitting.

We love animals - our home over the years having cats, fish & birds, with the occasional dog. I've (Amanda) had some experience with feeding, grooming & mucking horses, with some exposure to feeding & watering small numbers of cattle. I'm considered the 'Mad Cat Lady' of the family, believing that there's no better scent than the one that rises from a warm, contented cat who is stretching & unfurling from a nap & will constantly stop to talk to strange cats in the street! Yvonne has kept chickens, enjoying the regular fresh egg supply. We're also happy to do some gardening.

Your home will be cared for as though it were our own, maintaining cleanliness & security. Our late husband & Dad was in the RAAF & all of the properties in which we lived were always meticulously maintained. Properties rented by me were always well maintained & rental bond has never been withheld.

Mum (Yvonne) retired some years ago to focus on Dad as his Parkinson's Disease required someone to be on hand to offer assistance when needed. Their love & friendship helped them through some difficult times & has left me in awe of both of them. Mum has always worked, raising a couple of kids &, along with Dad, instilled self-respect, courtesy, consideration & discipline into our core beliefs. My Mum's awesome. 

I stepped away from a long-term corporate role & am currently engaged in online study, re-skilling myself for a move to medical administration. I also helped my Mum to care for my Dad until his recent passing.

Housesitting experience over the last 6 years....
~ Friend's fur or feather-children - The star of the stable is Moet, a very charismatic & smoochy 11yr old Burmese (we have a mutual admiration society) who I have cared for on a regular basis. Also lovingly included have been Pebbles, a sweet & timid British Shorthair; Bird, a perky & very chatty Rainbow Lorikeet; Maudy, a former neighbour's lavishly affectionate Shih Tzu/Terrier cross & Neisha, a happy, adventurous Border Collie.

~ Via house sitting websites - I started using websites in late 2014.
* NSW - I spent 3 weeks with Coco, a very social, chatty & acrobatic Siberian cat with IBS on Sydney's Northern Beaches (indoor cat); I had just over 2 weeks in the Hills District with Tammy, a sweet older & snuggly Jack Russell/Foxy cross, & Jack, her sleek, svelt & smoochy mixed-breed cat companion (outdoor cat); & the last stay of 2014 was just over a week in Umina Beach with Basil, a very independent, yet affectionate, Rag Doll/Burman cross (outdoor cat) & Gilbert, a very timid, yet quietly affectionate, Chinchilla/Rag Doll cross (indoor cat).

* QLD - Xmas/New Year if 2015-16 we enjoyed the company Wally, of an enthusiastic 11yr old Mini Foxy, & Lulu, a sweet 9 yr old Tenterfield Terrier, in Southport; we were entertained in Toowoomba by adorable dachsunds, Max & Ruby, their smoochy cat companions Milly, a sweet little mix breed, & Sandy, a divine 15 yr old 3-legged Tonkinese & 2 yet-to-be-named goats; Anzac weekend was spent with gorgeous ragdoll, Zula, in McDowall & we’re presently enjoying the attentions of 2 beautiful & charismatic Siamese in Maleny, Gus (Seal Point) & Lilli (Blue Point).

We really enjoy the challenges of spending time with & learning about each of these new fur-friends, especially in the first couple of days, given that we had spent very little time with them before staying. Developing bonds with them & having them accept mus is wonderful. They’re all a joy in their own individual ways & we're delighted that they each felt they could trust us & be relaxed in our company.

We welcome any questions that you may have.
