More information about this house sitter

We are an honest and trust-worthy professional couple, both non-smokers, looking for house-sitting opportunities in and around Canberra from late March/early April until July 2016.

Marcelo has both built and owned his own houses and definitely understands what an important responsibility it is looking after somebody else's home. Although new to this site, we both have house-sitting experience in Australia and overseas. We are clean, tidy, and respectful guests. Marcelo is quite the handy-man around the house we both enjoy tending to the garden.

We are animal-lovers and will do our very best to ensure that your pets don't miss their humans too much. We both grew up with canine, feline, and aquatic family members. Petrina is often the go-to for family and friends who need someone to look after their fur-babies. Between us we have experience taking care of dogs (of all ages, sizes, and health and energy levels), cats, tortoises, turtles, fish, budgies, ducks, geese, and chickens - and we're always willing to add new creatures to this list!

A little bit about us in general:
Marcelo is an electrical and instrumentation engineer and occasional barista. Originally from Chile, he has been in Australia for over 20 years and has also lived in Switzerland and Brazil. He speaks Spanish, English, and Portuguese fluently and is learning French.

Petrina works in public health. She was born and raised in Australia but has also lived in Germany, England, and Canada. She speaks German and Spanish (although not as well as she would like) and is also learning French.

Our passion for travel, couch surfing, and the great outdoors brought us together four years ago. We were both avid travellers before we met and we have since travelled together through Asia, Europe, and South America. We love rock climbing, trekking, salsa dancing, listening to live music, and cooking, eating and drinking: good coffee, wine, and cheese are an excellent start!

Aside from our profile photo, the pictures are from our most recent adventures in Hatun Machay in Peru, where we accidentally fell into looking after and running a rock climbers' refuge (with 20+ beds, 2 dogs, 11 geese, 12 ducks, 2 chickens, and a rooster) while the usual managers were away for a family Christmas.:
