Amy and I are available for house-sitting positions in the Greater Melbourne area during the year of 2024.
I am an English teacher (ESL/EFL) and have lived a large portion of my life, teaching and travelling overseas. I am now teaching again part-time, at a college in the cbd, three mornings a week. I'm also writing two books concurrently about my travels and looking for a publisher. In the past, I have also worked around Australia, particularly Tasmania, designing and constructing walking tracks in national parks. I am a keen outdoor enthusiast, especially cycle touring and bushwalking.
Amy and I met in Myanmar in 2012 and we have been back in Australia since 2014. In Myanmar I established a small foundation, supporting youth with disabilities to get access to education and job training. Amy joined my team as a translator/interpreter.
Amy is currently in her third year of a Bachelor of Education degree and works part-time as a Burmese/English interpreter. She shares my love of the outdoors and is constantly out in the garden in our rental and house-sitting homes. We are both fastidious about cleanliness and always keep a tidy home. As I am writing and Amy is studying online, we will spend a great part of our day at home, and will rarely go out at night whilst in Melbourne.
Between 2015-17 we had a variety of house-sitting positions in Tasmania, five in total, three privately, two with a house-sitting company. From 2022-2023 we had a total of five different housesits around Melbourne, and two houseowners (Hawthorn/Camberwell) asked us to return for extra sits. You can find the references in the attachments below. All the positions required care for houses, gardens and pets. The pets varied from a labradoodle, two beagles, a greyhound, a very naughty bearded collie called Xana, a kelpie, a blue-heeler, a delightful array of cats and the odd bird in a cage. We loved and cared for them as if they were our own. You can be rest assured that your pets will get the best treatment and most tender loving care with Amy and I looking after your home. We both love pets, both feline and canine and are avid walkers, so your cherished dogs will get a decent walking routine while we care for your home.
We both have current police certificates as well as Working with Vulnerable People checks.
We don’t really mind which part of the Melbourne area we reside in while house-sitting, as long as it is within the greater metropolitan region. Our preference is for longer house-sits and anything of three weeks or more duration would suit us more, as we get attached to pets and get accustomed to the area. However, we are also available to do shorter stints if they fit in with other confirmed housesits.
I believe Amy and I would be the right people to care for your home and pets if you prefer the house-sitters to be at home most of the time. I think our references speak for themselves and show both of us to be exemplary house-sitters, who will look after your pets, gardens and home.
