We are semi-retired professional people who have lived in Australia and overseas. I am a former Australian Government Trade Commissioner and have been the managing director of our own management consulting company which employed 45 people.
We are highly ethical and principled people. My wife is an ex-teacher and she presently counsels young people and is credentialed to deliver the PPP parenting program. My wife also holds Bluecard Certification.
We have leased our own properties and plan to relocate outside Brisbane in the medium-to-long term. Our main property is a 500sqm house on a 1200+ sqm land at Mount Ommaney.
We are house proud and treat other peoples' homes and their property with care and respect. While we are predominantly dog lovers (having owned several Dobermans) we have no issues with cats, provided they don't have issues with us.
My wife has green fingers and I dig and clean up as instructed. I am a competent handyman with particular expertise in maintaining a large in-ground saltwater pool (i.e. our own!!).
We enjoy quality tv/movies and high quality hifi. I trained to be a concert pianist so (naturally) enjoy everything and anything to do with pianos, pipe organs, classical music, opera, etc., with much tolerance for modern artists who have talent e.g. Elton John, ABBA, and their ilk.
We both abhor so called tv "talent" shows exploiting mostly talentless, naive, and wide-eyed people being misled on a false promise of instant celebrity/stardom.
My wife has a catholic musical taste and, after what seems like a lifetime together, I'm happy to agree with everything she says (!)....if only because she's better looking and a lot smarter than I am (she studied pure maths and quantum stuff at uni). I can add up and multiply. Read more...
