Hi my name is Melinda and I have been working with animals as a career for the past 14 years. My love of animals and helping them has always been a passion and Ive been so lucky to be able to do it as a job. My career as a marine animal trainer has seen me work with a variety of marine animal species and been responsible for their care in all aspects - cleaning, feeding, medical, enrichment and much more. This role has provided me with an indepth knowledge of animal behaviour both in a health care and training capacity.
I am also a teacher of animal studies at TAFE where I teach the next generation how to care for predominately domestic species of animals.
I have always grown up with pets at home with cats, dogs, birds, horses and rabbits. I love taking my dog down the beach for walks and training him new things, patting and brushing my rabbit on my lap while watching the tv and having my cat snuggle up on my bed when I go to sleep. I live by myself and they arent just my pets they are my best friends and companions.
I have just moved down to melbourne to work at the zoo on a contract for the next 9 months with the sea lions, otters, hippos, fish and penguins. Since it is a short relocation I sadly cant bring my pets with me so would love to still have the company of some animals at home as I love having pats and cuddles and will be missing my own pets alot!
Being a professional animal carer I have the skills, knowledge and experience to provide the utmost care for your pets and of course lots of love!
