More information about this house sitter

Hi I'm Chara.

I'm a responsible, independent and active retired woman, originally from Sydney, where I owned a home with my husband and worked primarily in the health care industry. I love animals and travelling.

On retirement, we sold our Sydney home and left Australia to live in Indonesia for 8 years, where we renovated a home and I worked in an arts venue as the events manager. I also rescued and adopted street dogs. I returned to Australia early in 2015 to take up a 10 month house sitting position in Central Queensland and have been fully booked as a house/pet sitter in a variety of positions since. Housesitting is now my lifestyle and I enjoy the variety of experiences very much.

My house sitting positions in Australia have been in Central Queensland, Melbourne, the Sunshine Coast and Western Australia. I've shared homes with a delightful assortment of dogs and cats as my companions, including 9 small-medium sized rescued dogs when I house sat for a month in Indonesia in January.

I've always lived with pets and love their companionship and caring for them. They usually feel relaxed and comfortable with me. Because I've adopted most of the dogs that I've shared my life with, I have experience with small and large dogs, old and young, easy going and the not so easy going, healthy and disabled. I'm happy to take senior dogs on sedate walks or more active dogs for brisk walks/runs, take them to the vet or the groomer, and of course have lots of cuddles and play. I've also administered medication to many pets including my last dog in Indonesia, who was not easy to handle and required twice daily insulin injections after he developed diabetes. My experience with cats has been much less challenging but equally enjoyable.

All the home owners that I've house sat for have been extremely happy with the quality of my care for their pets and homes and all have asked if I would be available to house/pet sit for them again. All are happy to provide references. I have a Police Certificate.

Among the activities I enjoy are: spending time with dogs and cats, writing, reading, practising yoga, watching good movies, keeping fit, spending time in the natural environment, spending time with friends and family as well as being adventurous and seeking new experiences.

I'm currently unavailable to housesit in Australia until I return from travelling in October 2018.
