More InformationWe are professionals from Canada who travel for extended work assignments (we come to Australia 3-4 months every year for work). One of us is a PhD-trained aquaculture researcher employed at a Swedish university, and the other is a retired teacher, now working as a research technician. We love pets, but our busy travel schedule keeps us from having any of our own. We enjoy finding homes-away-from-home where we can interact and care for pets and explore locally when in Australia. We've done many house and pet sits, in Brisbane, Bookara, Sydney, Kioloa, Maryborough, Bundaberg and throughout Adelaide.
We love gardening and will take good care of your plants. We can also handle most maintenance problems as they arise. We have experience and expertise in pet and farm animal care, flower and veggie gardening, as well as carpentry and building upkeep. Our motto is to 'treat it like our own,' so you know you will come home to a clean house and happy pets that have been lovingly cared for (and in the case of dogs, well-exercised because we are keen joggers!) Love cats as well, especially ragdolls!
As people who have owned (and still own) houses ourselves, we understand what it is to keep up a property and leave it in excellent condition. We have owned both urban and rural properties, so we are comfortable in just about any setting.
One year in Norway while housesitting, we finished off a bathroom renovation, landscaped the property and repaired the bicycles and outbuildings. In Sweden, we planted the garden for the returning owners who were pleasantly surprised to come home to a blooming veggie patch. We've taken care of dogs and cats in Brisbane and Sydney, a beach house in Kioloa, a dog in Bundaberg, took care of a sheep station in Bookara, and several dogs, cats, chooks, guinea pigs and parrots in Adelaide, along with various menageries of chickens, cats, cows and ducks in New Zealand.
We are both energetic, outdoor-loving people, non-smokers and non-drinkers who enjoy experiencing new places. We have never gotten a review less than 5 stars, so please just ask for our long list of references.
After 6 wonderful months of housesitting in 2017/2018 in Australia, we are now looking forward to 2019 and beyond. We are hoping to housesit in Adelaide primarily because of work commitments, but of course we are always keen to experience other parts of beautiful Australia - look forward to hearing from you if we can be of assistance!
