We are a reliable, responsible, mature couple who enjoy housesitting and we particularly love looking after pets, as we no longer have any at home. We lived in Canberra for 28 years and we retired to Melbourne in 2015 to be with our family. My husband is a retired academic, who worked at the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra, and I am a retired librarian, who worked in Parliament House. We take pride in looking after houses and caring for pets the way that their owners would do. We are returning to house and pet sitting now that COVID lockdowns are over, and we are looking forward to meeting new people and their pets. Our housesitting experiences began in 2014 and since then, we have housesat on 14 occasions. The maximum number of pets we have cared for during 1 housesit was 4, being 2 dogs and 2 cats. The vast majority of pets that we have cared for are dogs, ranging from Jack Russells to German Shepherds. However we owned cats for many years both before and after having children and have cared for 4 cats as part of our pet-sitting duties. We are meticulous about maintaining and cleaning the property before we leave so that it is in, at least, the condition in which we found it. For homeowners who cannot meet us face-to-face, we are happy to organise and participate in online meetings via platforms such as Zoom.
