𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝗦𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 🌿
𝘖𝘧𝘧-𝘎𝘳𝘪𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘰𝘯 𝘛𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 (𝘍𝘢𝘳 𝘕𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘘𝘓𝘋)

We’re looking for a reliable, animal-loving sitter to care for our small off-grid farm while we’re away over summer.
Wakana Ridge spans nearly 70 acres overlooking Lake Tinaroo, surrounded by rainforest and farmland - peaceful and private. Just 15 minutes from Yungaburra, 10 minutes from Lake Eacham, and 5 minutes from Lake Barrine, and about an hour’s drive to the centre of Cairns.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲:
We live in a modern shouse (shed-house) with all the bells and whistles - solar power, full kitchen and laundry, Wi-Fi, hot water, and some fans throughout. It’s fully insulated and comfortable, just on a smaller, simpler scale than a full-sized house.
There’s one large bedroom and also a small room with bunk beds (suits kids). Lovely outdoor area, firepit, with a beautiful outlook.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱:
The property is teeming with wildlife - wallabies, birds, and the occasional striped possum. There’s direct access to Lake Tinaroo from the back boundary for kayaking, swimming, or fishing, plus easy proximity to nearby crater lakes and walking trails.
Up on the ridge (our future house pad) there’s another firepit spot with stunning sunsets and starry nights - the best view on the property.
You’re also welcome to help yourself to the fruit orchard and herb/veggie gardens while you’re here — plenty of fresh food to enjoy.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱:
> Feeding goats, chickens & guinea fowl daily
> Letting goats in/out of paddocks, checking health (occasional goat-head rescue)
> Letting chickens out each morning, locking them in at dusk, collecting eggs
> Cleaning the goat shelters and chicken coop when needed
> Taking our 2 dogs for daily runs/swims (energetic working breeds) kayaking works.
> Picking up dog poop and checking dogs for ticks
> Checking cattle occasionally
> Watering plants, refilling animal water bowls, keeping the house tidy
> Mowing once or twice during the stay
We’ll need someone for the 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘥 so the routine stays consistent. Also, my mum lives right next door and we're only a phone call away if questions come up.
It’s not heavy work, just steady - best suited to someone energetic, hands-on, and confident with animals and also a bit of a home body. In exchange, you’ll have a peaceful, scenic base for the summer with lake swims, sunsets, abundant wildlife, and plenty of goat and chicken cuddles.
