About this house sitting position in BRIGHTON
Looking for someone special to look after our senior fluffy while we're away.
Our home is a (we think quite beautiful) renovated Queenslander right on the water in Sandgate-Brighton. It is spacious, has lots of light and fantastic ocean views.
It comes with a 12-year old Burmese cat who loves to sleep a lot these days. She's mostly adorable and very cute, but easily upset by change, and can be surprisingly noisy and demanding when she wants attention, which is usually in the early mornings and the afternoons. She's a terrible eater and the main job in looking after her would be to ensure she eats enough (which sometimes involves creative forms of coaxing or even hand-feeding). She also appreciates an occasional belly rub, a conversation, or a wander in the garden with her humans. Sorry, our cat is not accustomed to small children, dogs or birds (in fact, she's rather scared of them).
Back to the house: the kitchen/dining/lounge area is open plan, newly renovated and modern, and well equipped if you love to cook while watching the tide roll in and out. There are three bedrooms (the master bedroom with amazing ocean views, but also a cat that owns the foot of the bed; your choice), as well as a separate lounge with views to a magnificent ~100-year-old fig tree in the back yard. There is also a spacious work area under the house for wood/metal/craft works, or some fitness workouts, and an adjacent deck to chill out and watch the birds in the fig tree. There is a large garden with lawn, herbs, vegetables, fruit trees etc. The garden doesn't need looking after for shorter stays, but for those longer than 3-5 days some plants would appreciate a drink every now and then.
If you don't know the Sandgate/Brighton area, it's great for cycling, walking, running, kite surfing, kayaking, fishing and many other outdoors activities. We do have some outdoor sporting gear, including bikes and kayaks that you could use if you'd like.
This is our first experience with a house/pet sitting site. We used to have colleagues or neighbours who did a great job when we were away, but now we've stopped full-time work, are close to the end of our house renovations, and plan to be out and about much more frequently, as well as for much longer (once overseas travel is possible again). So we're keen to try something new, and hope to find someone who enjoys both the house and the cat as much as we do :) Read more...
