About this house sitting position in Codrington

We are looking for a reliable house sitter to stay & look after our property at Codrington Settlement & Gardens while we close our B&B business and go overseas for our annual holiday.

We plan to be away from May to Sept 2020 inclusive (and again in 2021 & 2022, so a repeat house sitter would be a bonus).

Our place is a rural property, there are certain aspects of living here that you must take into consideration, for example, all our water is pumped from ground and tank supply. You need to have some practical ability to live here, such as the ability to turn pumps on and off to maintain your water supply.

Outdoors inclined folks would be best here too, someone inclined to be outside doing stuff, walking around and watching what's going on, rather than sitting inside huddled around a bar heater trying to "keep warm".

There's some very Minor gardening we would like you to do, a bit of watering in the greenhouse, some basic weed control, but it is mainly looking after our pets, collecting eggs & keeping a general eye on the property, actual daily "work" would be less than an hour.

We're located in a classic rural region on Ship Wreck Coast of Victoria. This region is a major tourist attraction, & surrounded by a wonderland of natural features, National Parks, Marvelous beaches & seascapes, Lakes, Rivers, Forests. Our actual district is at the very end of the main tourist track & remains an un-commercialized mecca, with quick & easy access to the tourist sights.

If you're interested in walking, there's miles & miles & miles of secluded walks on beaches, rivers, forests, all within an hours drive.

If you're interested in Australian History, then we are smack bang in the middle of many historical sites, with many heritage buildings.

If you are interested in fishing, then this area is a fishing paradise. Beach, Lake, Estuary, River, & Rock Fishing, it's fishing everywhere.

BUT. If you just want to get away from the hustle and bustle, our property is the perfect place to do that. Quiet & private, massive gardens.

Nearest Town is Port Fairy. Nearest street light 26 klms away. Nearest neighbour about 1 klm away. Houses in a 10 klm region about 15.

This is a dairy & grazing farming district based on cattle & sheep. Quite and peaceful region, easy pace of life. Wonderful friendly locals.

So, if you like animals enjoy a bit of seclusion and love outside activities in the fresh fresh air, this would suit you to a tee.

Earlier arrival and/or later leaving is OK.

You will be accommodated in one of our cottages, the Settlers Luxury Cottage, which you can see on our web site.

We ask that you visit and spend at least a couple of days with us before we chose, and again before leaving so we can show you the ropes and mutually assure each other that this is the house sit for you.
