Hello! My name’s Sarah and I’m looking for a responsible, pet-loving individual or couple to look after my home and its most important occupant: my calico kitty, Ffion. I’ve previously travelled around the UK looking after houses, gardens and animals via websites like HelpX, so I'm very aware of the benefits that housesitting offers for both parties!

I live in a small but neat 2-bed townhouse in Croydon North. My place is at the end of a no-through road, in a spacious complex with resident rabbits, cockatoos, kookaburras and currawongs (and ponies over my back fence!). My place is a ~35min drive to the city, and 45-60min via train depending on the day/time. I’m under 10min drive from two railway stations and there’s a bus stop at the end of the street. There’s a shopping centre 2.5km down the road, and a Coles supermarket at the end of my street (less than 500m away), so there’s no need to get in the car if you run out of milk. I'm 15min from the beautiful Yarra Valley, and 25min from the Dandenongs.

I love my house, but I love my cat more. As a nervous new cat mama, I’m hoping to find someone who can look after my little monster while I'm away. Ffi is three years old; sweet, timid and low maintenance. She will happily nap the day away, interrupted only by occasional requests for pats, food, attention, etc. She sleeps downstairs by her own choice (bedroom is upstairs), and while she may come in and wake you up at 6am to sing you the song of her people (ie. beg for her breakfast) she’s very happy to let you get right back to snoozing once she’s been fed. Once she gets to know you, she enjoys sleeping next to your legs if you settle on the couch for a spell, and she may even honour you by climbing into your lap. You’ll also see the cattitude start to emerge, usually expressed through evening zoomies and her range of expressive meows. She saves her claws for the carpet, and has never been known to scratch or bite.

I’d love to find someone who is kind and calm, has good references, and can put my little girl at ease. Very little other maintenance is required – I have a low-care garden, and only a few pots and houseplants that may need a drink every now and then. However, if you’re a dedicated green thumb and are suffering withdrawal, I have a community garden plot a couple of suburbs away that you would be MOST welcome to keep yourself busy with, should you have the means and motivation! While you stay you are very welcome to help yourself to my store of homegrown garlic, onions, (and, hopefully, pending the outcome of this season’s harvest!), tomato passata and pumpkins. :)
