About this house sitting position in Diwan

We are looking for a couple to house sit at our beautiful home in the Daintree Rainforest while the house is on the market for sale. We don't expect the property to be sold rapidly and the stay duration is suitable for short and longterm sitters.

This is a very special property nestled in one of the most beautiful corners of the world.

The home is perched on the top of a hill with incredible views across the rainforest to the ocean from all areas of the house, deck and from the pool.

It is completely off grid, but with a large solar power and rain/ bore water system so you experience sustainable living with a level of comfort and luxury you would expect in a modern city dwelling.

The appliances (everything except a TV but there is a projector) include a dishwasher; washing machine/ dryer and a hot water booster. The solar system is also near new - it is 'state of the art' and requires practically no maintenance and has a backup generator.

We may be off grid, but the house is well connected to the outside world. Telstra mobile phones will have reception at the house and a landline is available. We are also connected to NBN satellite and 30 GB per month is provided. It is requested that we receive regular emails with pictures/video during your stay to keep us updated. The road and access to the house is sealed and accessible to any vehicle (but contact us re. caravan/ motorhome access due to a steep concrete driveway).

The property is a small acreage and some daily work will be required to maintain the garden and house. This includes mowing (ride on), relatively heavy pruning work and if you have a green hand, you can start a vegetable garden. A long steep driveway also needs maintenance to keep the leaves off. The cleared land is around 1 acre with the remaining acres on the property being rainforest with some paths to enjoy. The maintenance is made relatively easy thanks to our comprehensive assortment of gardening and work tools that are available in the large shed.

You will ideally have your own transport, but there is potential that a small non-4WD vehicle could be provided.

The nearest town, Mossman, is a 40 minute drive away and provides ready access to all necessities including a Woolworths and full medical facilities and we can provide ferry tickets for free access. A further 10 minutes on from there is the beautiful tourist town of Port Douglas which is easy to do as a day trip from the Daintree. Back at the house, there is a cafe/ restaurant that is walking distance away, and a small service station, a pub, and more restaurants and cafes at nearby Cow Bay and Cape Tribulation.

This house sit is a unique opportunity to stay in the magical and peaceful Daintree Rainforest and experience an incredible, relaxing lifestyle in an eco home with a high level of comfort and amenities. It comes with a pool, hammocks, bean bags and a bath with a view across the rainforest.

The house will be on the market during the house sit so we are looking for a couple that will keep the house in top condition, as well as look after a rainforest garden and pool that needs regular and routine attention to keep it looking its best. House sitters will also need to be welcoming and willing to ensure the house, garden and pool are in top condition at any inspection times.
