About this house sitting position in East Kurrajong

4 bedroom house set on 40 private bush acres, 15 minutes from Windsor. Drive in and leave the noise of the city behind. Sit on the veranda and you may be lucky enough to spot a wallaby and you will see birdlife such as kookaburras and cockatoos. Go bushwalking in our ‘back yard’ or around the quiet streets. This is a ‘lifestyle’ property, not a farm so there’s no hard farm-labour involved.

Even though you are in this tranquility, there is electricity, air conditioning and slow-combustion stove, tank water, WIFI and shops a short drive away. Historic Windsor, with restaurants, cafes and supermarkets is a 15-minute drive. There is also a train station at Windsor and the trip to the centre of Sydney takes about 1 1/2 hours.

Beautiful Mount Tomah Botanical Gardens is 38km away and the Hunter Valley wine region is about a two hour drive. There are also three lovely boutique wineries a short drive - or bike ride- from our home.

Sounds idyllic ? Now the real responsibility: our two over- endulged dogs.

We have two very spoilt dogs who are used to almost constant human company. They like their daily walks and then to wander in and out of the house (via their doggy door).
The scary-looking staffy is a lovely, docile, loyal dog who will likely sleep at your feet while you watch TV or read. He is only really animated when you throw sticks for him in the enclosed back yard.

The border collie is sweet and shy but is getting better at warming to strangers. She likes to spend her days outside but will come in for company at night. She loves her daily walks and joining in with the stick game.

We have just found that our house sitting arrangements for June/July have fallen through so we are anxious to find the right person/people. We do have backup so, if this sit is ideal for you apart from a day or two, then it still may work.

Ideally this will be someone who will spend the majority of time at home and who loves dogs. You will need your own transportation and will need to enjoy being in the bush, away from the city- there’s no Starbucks or McDonalds on the next corner! However, there are lovely neighbours who will help you out if needed.

As the dogs are not used to kids, we wouldn’t suggest this house sit for anyone with children living with them and we would prefer non-smokers.

There will be two double bedrooms available with their own bathrooms as well as a third toilet and shower. Read more...
