We are looking for an honest reliable, clean couple to live in and maintain our home long term for 3-6 months from early August 2021. The property is tucked away in the hills in Frankford in Northern Tasmania. It’s half way between the towns of Launceston and Devonport (about 40 minutes drive to either) and 15 minutes drive from Beaconsfield or Exeter. The unique property built from stone collected from the land by my late step father, sits on 110 acres of pasture and forest and is completely off grid. The house has solar, batteries and generator back up for power, tank water, gas for hot water and cooking and septic tank. When I inherited the property I spent 18 months renovating it to the highest standard from top to bottom and completed the renovations in 2019. This included 2 brand new bathrooms, new kitchen with new gas appliances and dishwasher, new deck, new fireplaces, the whole house was freshly painted throughout, new hard wood flooring, carpet and new double glazed windows throughout. I also completed the air Bnb wing of the house with its own bathroom and kitchenette. With the updates the home is now very comfortable year round. Being off- grid we have fireplaces for heating. This requires firewood and ideally the tenants will have experience with a chainsaw and collecting firewood and can drive a tractor (hydrostatic 2016 Case… very easy to drive). Even though we are quite isolated (the driveway is 1.6kms long) there is still good reception here so if you want to get the internet hooked up you can. There is a wing of the house that is set up as accommodation on air Bnb which you can access when not booked out, however it will need to be cleaned for guest bookings and set up for their stays after use. Your part of the house includes 2 bedrooms. We are looking for someone to live here long term while we are away and maintain the property, firewood supply, yard. This includes the occasional clean of the air Bnb after guests. (The air Bnb will only be available for stays of 2 nights or more) When not in use tenants are welcome to use the air Bnb also. Tenants will not need to pay rent in exchange for their cleaning and yard maintenance of the property, however they will be responsible for gas, and any extra water they may need to order in summer, diesel for the generator and internet. The house has no pets to look after but can come with a couple of laying chickens for house sitters if they want to look after them in exchange for their fresh eggs. Tenants pets may be considered, the yard is fully fenced. The house will be fully furnished to a high standard, just own linen required. There is also a well established veggie garden and an orchard providing lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and we ask that the tenants maintain these also.
