Looking for older retired couple to house sit with my precious kelpie, who is a rescue dog, she's extremely timid, but once she warms up to you she will be your shadow. I need someone who will be home with her every night, that we are away, and by that I don't mean you cant go out for dinner etc, we just don't want our pet left home alone overnight. She is a rescue dog, who was beaten and left for dead, so she is "special needs" in terms of needing someone very good with animals and super patient, and prepared to be our pets minder. You do not need to walk her as she is too timid and scared to go on a lead, but we ask that you play fetch with her in the back yard every day for at least 30-45 mins, through out the day, it doesn't have to be done in one hit. Just basically so long as she is exercised with fetch, she is a very happy girl.
Our dog is an inside dog, she is house trained and sleeps in her crate at night, she is locked in the house at night but will come and nudge you awake if she needs to go out (this is extremely rare!). If you go out during the day there is no need to lock her out, she has a dog door she will come and go as she pleases. She is a quiet girl, but does love a bit of a bark at other dogs she sees walk by. She spends her days either cuddled up with you on the sofa if you're sitting around or she will follow the sun, or sitting on her favorite spot in the window.
PLEASE NO CHILDREN OR OTHER PETS. Ideally we are looking for grey nomads, good with animals that would like a break in a suburb 10 mins from Cronulla Beach, 5 minutes from a major Westfields, and on a direct train line to the city. If you think you fit the bill, give me a shout.
Our dog is part of our family, and I would never consider putting her in a boarding kennel. She is such a precious part of our lives and we really need someone who is passionate about animals too. Read more...
