About this house sitting position in Karana Downs, Brisbane
We require a kind, dog-loving, responsible person or couple to look after our 3 much loved border collie dogs (females) and our house while we are away from our home. We would prefer someone/ couple, with no children.
Our home is an easy-care, low-set, 4-bedrooms + study, brick home situated on approx 7000m² (1 ¾ acres), most of which is natural bush. Our property is northern facing and has lovely views of bushland and hills peeking through the trees, which is easily seen from the house verandah. Our house has a large kitchen, formal lounge, dining and family room. It is partly screened, with an air conditioner in the main and guest bedrooms and family room. Fans and heaters are available for use where needed. We are non-smokers and would require that our sitter/s also do not smoke in the house.
Our home is located at Karana Downs, which is 15 km from the centre of Ipswich and 30km from the centre of Brisbane CBD. We are 7 mins from the Warrego Highway, the main road linking east to Brisbane and further west. Brisbane CBD is only 40 – 50 mins by train, with the nearest station being approximately a 13-minute drive away.
There is a shopping centre 5km away with two supermarkets, doctor, dentist, newsagent etc. Kenmore Village which is 15 minutes away has more shops and restaurants. Indooroopilly and Mt Ommaney shopping malls are within 30 mins drive. There is also a small Foodstore, pizza place, hairdresser and bakery within walking distance from our house here in Karana Downs. The pizzas are great! There is also a golf course and clubhouse just down the road, which does good meals on Friday and Saturday evenings.
However, there is very limited public transport that goes from Karana Downs to Ipswich and towards the drop-off place (10 mins) to catch the bus into Brisbane city and suburbs, so our sitter/s will need to have their own transport.
It would be ideal if our sitter would be able to take our girls for walks (1 or 2 at a time), but in reality, they get plenty of exercise chasing and playing with each other, so this isn’t mandatory.
