About this house sitting position in Kirkstall

We are a family who live on a 20 acre hobby farm, with 4 cows, some sheep, 2 alpacas, 40 odd chickens, 2 peacocks, a dog, a cat (who is very nervous around other dogs, which is why we are looking for someone without animals). We are heading around Australia for 6 - 7 months and would love to have someone to move in and take of our little flock while we are away. The house is better suited to a couple, simply because of moving livestock about. You will need experience with animals, comfortable with a chain saw and be happy to be a little isolated - we are 10 minutes drive from Port Fairy and 5 mins from Koroit. The cows just need a bale of hay each day at most, the chickens need feeding and watering, cleaning out once a week or so and someone to collect their eggs which are sold in Port Fairy and eaten by you! We have sheep who will be lambing in June/July so any experience would be great but not a must. We had our first lambing season last year and survived! Our Hungarian Viszla is very friendly and loves company, ideally she should be walked once a day but is happy to lounge by the fire in bad weather! You will need a car as there is no public transport, but there is a rail trail for bikes not far from us if you feel like some exercise. We have a vegetable garden which you are welcome to tend or not as you like. We live only 15 mins from Port Fairy, a lovely costal tourist town. References are a must. Read more...
