About this house sitting position in Lithgow

This would be ideal for someone relocating to the area/on a short term contract/ being on the spot for house hunting and is looking for short term furnished accommodation at a cheap rent.

We have some commitments in Europe which take us away from mid May to end of August/beginning September

We have a heritage house in Lithgow, on the cusp of the Blue Mountains and the rolling plains of Central West, at the end of the Blue Mountains train line from Sydney (2h45mins) ( we walk to the station) and within two hour radius drive we have the most diverse countryside imaginable. The Wolgan Valley, Oberon, historic Bathurst, Newnes, Kanimbla Valley, Megalong Valley, Grose Valley, Hill End. Lithgow is not a tourist town like most of the Blue Mountains, (doesn't get as much mist and fog as the rest of the BM!) in a valley between Katoomba and Bathurst. We have one of the oldest houses in town, built 1872 for the local colliery (long gone) and a half acre garden, most of which is lawn. Ancient oaks, lime trees and spring blossom trees thrive in this european climate. Cold nights with sunny days in winter. The house is on the edge of the town, but only 5 minutes walk to train station and shops. We have bikes you can use too.

The house is a heritage property, built on one level with wide verandahs. It is split into two, informally, just now, with a wing housing two bedrooms and a shower room. This can be closed off when not in use to save costs and used as bedrooms only when required.
The main house accommodation has one bedroom, a separate dining room, a living room with open fireplace (not necessary for heating, gas heating is in place) and baby grand piano, main bathroom, and lovely large sunny eat-in kitchen. French doors lead onto the verandahs on two sides looking over a small formal pond. The rest of the garden is, as mentioned, mostly grass, with a rose circle and cottage garden where you can plant your vegies for your stay. Plenty of parking within the property.

Duties:

Garden.
Just keeping the garden tidy makes life easier, mowing when essential (not much in winter) sweeping up leaves (essential) and putting them into the leaf bin, making sure weeds don't take over the gravel drive and paths too much! Neighbours are poised to come and help.

We have two sons with families in the town, who can help out with any problems if necessary.

This is a strictly non smoking home.

Conditions: As this is a fairly substantial letting term with minimal duties, we ask the house sitter to contribute $360 per month towards the house costs (includes internet) plus pay for personal usage of gas and electricity. Water and insurances will be covered by us.

References are essential and will be taken up.
