About this house sitting position in Maleny

My partner Helen and I live in the delightful village of Maleny in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. We live on half an acre in a 2 bedroom timber home with home office and a garage that is gradually being converted to a living space. With a wrap around veranda on one side and a paved court yard with lawn and landscaped garden on the other, there is always somewhere to sit to catch the winter sun.
Our house feels quite secluded with a long driveway from the street and bushy outlook and sounds - especially in the mornings with a great dawn chorus.
We are a 20 minute walk into town or less than 5 minute drive. Maleny has plenty to see and do and has a great community feel.
We have two precious doggies. Mottie is an ageing 15+ year old Japanese Spitz and Jojo, 7 years is a shitzu x poodle. They are very good natured and love human company and walks. There are several nice walking areas for doggies in Maleny .
This house sit would suit some one who is largely home based as our pooches are used to our company. They are however fine on their own for a half day at a time.

Mottie has liquid medication on his food twice/day and he gets up during the night for the toilet. As an elderly dog his care requires a little patience - for example he needs to be lifted in and out of the car when driving to the park, and you would need to walk slowly so he can keep up, and keep a close eye on him so he doesn't lose you (poor hearing and eyesight). However he is very appreciative and will reward you with lovely soft cuddles.

The dogs are accustomed to 2 walks per day - morning and afternoon for at least 30 mins each.

If you are interested, we would need to meet you before the house-sit. We do require references & we are looking for people who genuinely love dogs, especially older dogs.

Sadly, we've previously experienced house sitters damaging our property and leaving it unclean. So we would like your undertaking to repair any damage and to either clean the house or pay our cleaner to do so.

Please note that we don't have broadband. We use mobile internet services ourselves as we also move around a bit. However, we are willing to contribute to mobile phone or broadband costs if you require internet for work. Read more...
