About this house sitting position in McCrae

Our home is in a lovely quiet garden setting on the Mornington Peninsula just over an hours' easy freeway drive from the MCG and a 12 minute walk to beautiful McCrae beach. A perfect time to be on the Peninsula with so much to do - wineries, cafes, beach and bush walks, galleries, hot springs and golf.

It is a two story home with living upstairs. You would have access to a downstairs bedroom with a queen size bed with a ceiling fan. The bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with shower.

The house has an open plan kitchen living area and full laundry facilities. There is a small but very pleasant sunny backyard with BBQ and seating on the upstairs balcony with sea views. .

There is off street parking with room for a caravan.

Very efficient ducted heating and air conditioning.

Our main priority is our adored ragdoll cat and our three legged cocker spaniel. Both almost 13 years old, very gentle and affectionate.

The key requirement is to feed the animals and give PLENTY of attention and love. The dog needs lifting into a car and upstairs to the living area so you need to be physically fit and WILLING & CAPABLE OF LIFTING - he’s 18kg. He is used to going almost everywhere with me, is very social and will be expecting outings. He will sit quietly at a cafe. He has three gentle off lead walks a day and loves variety. He has a push cart if you want to go further. The cat is very independent going in and out at whim.

Neighbours are excellent.

“Disappointing housesit and not as advertised. Albi and Flossie were delightful, well cared for and happy. Siusan expected Albi to be taken for a walk 4 times a day and would check her outdoor cameras from overseas to ensure this was happening. She wasn’t happy with Albi being taken around the block but he had to go in the car on each occasion to four different waking locations to ‘stimulate’ him regardless if it was Christmas Day or extremely hot. She also expected Albi to be taken to a cafe each day and for him not to be left alone at home. The walks and cafe trips were off lead. Also, Albi had vet appointments. I would send Siusan daily photos of Albi but this was insufficient. She also had a doggy door on her outdoor fence which was not mentioned. Unfair expectations with no pay, being watched. ”

This was a disappointing arrangement from my perspective too because despite absolute clarity about my expectations for Albi as a dog with special needs. I was aware from the external security system that they were not being met. I learned this was in part because of a family distraction but nevertheless it necessitated me making other arrangements.

“Siusan was a gorgeous host, very well organised with all the pets needs and creating space for me. Her home is in a beautiful location too. Pets, Flossie the ragdoll cat is gorgeous, good routine, extremely friendly and Albi the Cocker Spaniel is a superstar, coping quite well with his disability and loving life with his daily outings and routines.
