About this house sitting position in Reservoir

Hello

We’re looking for someone (single or couple) to look after our house and our fur baby (Willy dog).

We have an Edwardian farmhouse with a wrap around verandah along the front and side and a back deck off the kitchen - so plenty of chill space to enjoy your morning coffee or sunset wine or two. Our home is centrally located - 4 min walk to train and bus and the trams are about 15-20 min walk away, short drive or one train stop (we often walk) to preston market, supermarkets, cafes, plus a plethora of delicious and varied restaurants 🍝🍛🥗🍕🍔🥟 oh and boutique breweries! We have a shopping trolley for the market you're most welcome to use! The bike path into the city is on the corner of our street and there is a large park along with tennis courts just up the road. It takes about 35-50 to ride in to the city depending on your fitness. Or it is a 30 minute train ride, about the same or a little more on the tram and by car can be between 25 and 40 give or take traffic congestion. Thornbury and Northcote are only 5-8 minutes in the train and Fitzroy/Collingwood about 15 minutes or so.

We live in a no through road so there’s not much traffic, however the train line is at the end of the street - but most visitors (we have lots of interstate and international guests stay) have told us they don’t notice it. Plus it means your conveniently located to the station!

All round it’s a nice quiet safe area with great neighbours.

Facilities include a modern renovated kitchen, dining, bathroom and second powder room, whilst the rest of house retains the charm of its 1913 period features (think ornate plaster ceilings, wooden floors, stained glass and bay windows). We do have ducted heating, but as it will be December that you stay, I don’t think that’s going to be a worry for you. 😉 The house has the Edwardian style high ceilings throughout and stays cool on the warm days with lots of windows and cross breeze. We have a fan if you need it but have never found the need for air conditioning so it is not installed. There’s WiFi available and loads of books for you to enjoy and a selection of records, cds and dvds if you wish. You would have your own room with plenty of storage space and large windows for light and breeze - the windows have blinds and curtains if you prefer a darker sleeping space.

Our pooch - Willy - is an older chap and a low maintenance fellow in his mature years. He is a medium to large friendly boy (rescue so breed unknown) who loves to be part of the family, always happy to receive a snuggle and a schmako. He is not able to walk too far so a short stroll through the park for a sniff and look around each day is all he needs. Otherwise he’ll join you on the verandah to enjoy the sunshine and watch the world go by, or will curl up in the lounge room on his own bed for a snooze. He’s happy to be outside through the day, but we prefer he stays inside at night.

We have a small to medium size garden which shouldn’t require any maintenance, unless it is extra hot in which case I’d appreciate it if you were able to give it a water. I have several indoor plants that might need a watering mid stay.

Please note the house is not suitable for young children.

We’re looking for someone who will be responsible and respectful and who is going to take good care of Willy dog. 😊

We’d like to meet up or Skype/FaceTime beforehand and if we’re all happy we can arrange to meet Willy and view the house.
