Darren and I are 55+, married and have been together over 22 years. We're non-smokers and have lived in south Canberra since 1999 in a 3br house that we share with our two sibling 'part Norwegian Forrest' scaredy-cats, Floki and Thorkel. They have access to their own large cat enclosure via a cat-flap in one of the back windows. Tho the boys have a litter box, they tend to prefer the back garden, so you probably won't need to replace the cat litter. The boys are not allowed outside other than through the cat-flap. We also have an enclosed chicken run with four who lay eggs. The chicken coup has a portcullis type of gate which can be raised and lowered from outside the run & coup. You can also collect the eggs from the nestboxes from outside the coup. We have a large back garden and love growing a variety of vegetables in raised beds.
Our 5yo cats may, with time, get used to you and say hello, but you'll know they are ok if they're fed morning and night and the food (fully supplied, plus treats) is disappearing. The chickens have food and water hoppers that will need topping up (fully supplied). We'd appreciate the garden being watered (either by hose or watering cans as we have some water tanks) and we are happy for you to make use of any ripe fruit and veggies. Please note that we have 2 bee hives that require no maintenance. You may not even notice they are there as they tend to fly out straight over the back fence.
We have ducted evaporative air-conditioning, and ducted gas heating throughout the house.
You can drive to the local shops in 5min, Canberra, Tidbinbilla or Queanbeyan in 20mins, Sydney or the coast in 3hrs. Read more...
