About this house sitting position in Wattle Grove
Large modern home in Wattle Grove, Perth. Family seeking to find an experienced, reliable, trustworthy and extremely pet friendly house sitter for our 8 day holiday planned in mid to late September.
Ideally we'd love to connect with someone that would be interested in ongoing house sitting as we plan to take holidays at least every 5-6 months. Following the September holiday, we have holiday plans for over Christmas and early January.
We have a small zoo so this would better suit a mature retired couple or those who work from home as our fur and feather kids are used to having us home full time.
Our babies include:
2 dogs: A pug x (Shelby) and a mastiff x (Max)
2 cats: A ragdoll (Misha) and her son (Anzac)
2 parrots: A female eclectus (Nelly) and a male eclectus (Kiwi)
3 chooks: Maple, Cinnamon and Cocoa (Isa Browns)
Animal feeding/ caring chores take approximately 40 mins in the morning, including; cleaning kitty litter, cat bench top, removing spent food and topping up biscuits/ water as required, chopping fruit for the parrots and changing their water, taking the compost out to the chooks and letting them into their run, checking their food and water and filling when required, picking them wheat grass and throwing it into the run, dog poo every few days, filling the dogs' enrichment toys (kongs, kibble canisters) with breakfast and providing marrow bones a couple times a week. Evening chores take less time and include; topping up the dog water bowl in the laundry, bringing in the cats, putting on the dog door to lock the animals in (all dogs and cats sleep indoors), feeding the cats, feeding the dogs, putting blankets over the parrots, locking the chooks back in their hutch, and taking the dogs out for 'wees' before you go to bed.
Shelby will require a 30 minute daily lead walk, we prefer Max to be home bound for the time we are away unless you are an experienced dog handler of rescue dogs or those with fear/anxiety issues. Max is completely fine at home, this is his safe place and he has the nature of a large teddy bear. But due to no socialisation as a pup and severe abuse he has coping mechanisms that need to be followed if you want to walk him. We walk him daily under a strict guideline and he is undergoing weekly professional dog training at present with great progress so far.
The parrots are both hand tame, speak and come indoors every day. However, our preference is that they remain caged whilst we are away, unless you are experienced with handling parrots, as they are not clipped and each have their own special personalities.
In addition to the pets, we have a small number of pot plants to be watered. The majority of the plants are on retic. Plus the usual mail and rubbish bin collection.
We are a friendly family and aiming to create a friendship with our house sitter. We are happy for the right house sitter to arrive earlier and stay on after we get back, if needed. We are also open to having you as a visitor anytime you're passing through Perth. You will have a choice of two rooms for your stay, both with queen size beds and good quality mattresses; one Japanese styled with TV and the other french provincial without TV. Both wardrobes are in use, but space can be made if required. We also have driveway space for a caravan if you are mobile.
We would need to meet any house sitter prior to our holiday to see if the fit works for both you, us and the pets. They are more like children to us than pets, so we find it heart wrenching to leave them for even short periods. We look forward to hearing from you. Read more...
