More information about this house sitter
Hello, I’m a psychotherapist who works online, a lifelong animal lover, and a naturally calm, friendly person. I enjoy getting to know people and animals alike, and I value the small, everyday things that make a home feel warm and settled.
Outside my work, I am an enthusiastic reader and committed lifelong learner; psychotherapy is a second career for me, and I continue to study and develop professionally. I enjoy cooking healthy meals from scratch, quiet evenings at home, films, time with friends and family, and getting outside to see what the day brings. I also love travelling and have lived in different parts of the world, so I genuinely enjoy discovering a new neighbourhood and its character—even somewhere familiar can feel new when seen from a different home.
I am curious, caring, and community-minded. I tend to say hello to neighbours, enjoy a friendly chat, and like being helpful where I can. When I am caring for a pet, one of the things I most look forward to is seeing them become familiar with me: watching trust grow, noticing their individual personality, and enjoying the funny, unexpected little habits that make each animal so special.
I am happiest creating a peaceful, well-looked-after home environment where pets can feel comfortable, cared for, and themselves.
Why I Want to House and Pet Sit
House and pet sitting feels like a wonderful way to get to know Australia, which will be my longer-term home. I am excited by the chance to experience different neighbourhoods, discover new parts of the country, and meet people with different lives and perspectives. I enjoy settling into a place, getting to know its character, and becoming part of the everyday rhythm of a local area.
It also offers something I have missed: the company of animals. It has been a few years since I had my own dog and cat, and I am really looking forward to having pets in my life again—their calm presence, companionship, cuddles, and all the small, individual things that make them so endearing.
I believe I would make a great sitter because I want owners to feel genuinely comfortable with me before they leave. The most important thing to me is trust: knowing that an owner feels I understand what matters to them, their pets, and their home. I am mature, responsible, and proactive. I will keep you informed, raise any concern early, and contact you promptly if something needs attention, so you can be away knowing that everything is being carefully looked after.
My Experience Caring for Homes and Pets
I have many years of experience caring for family homes and pets, including mostly larger dogs as well as smaller dogs, cats, and animals with very different personalities. I understand that some pets want close affection—even a large Labrador who thinks they belong on your lap—while others prefer more space and a gentler, less hands-on approach. I take time to learn each animal’s routine, boundaries, and ways of seeking reassurance.
I am observant about animal wellbeing and notice changes in behaviour, appetite, sleeping, toileting, or energy. If something seems different, I monitor it carefully and keep the owner informed early. For example, while caring for a dog whose appetite began to decline, I noticed the change, watched their wider behaviour, contacted the owner promptly, and took the dog to the vet at their request. I believe it is important to involve an owner early, particularly because pets can change quickly and it is their animal.
I am best suited to pets whose needs are clearly communicated and who do not require intensive or complex care. I have experience supporting older pets and everyday health needs, but I value complete honesty from owners about anything that may affect a pet’s comfort or care. This helps ensure that the arrangement is genuinely in the animal’s best interests.
I am equally conscientious about the home. I keep kitchens, pet areas, litter trays, and everyday spaces clean, tidy, and hygienic, staying on top of spills or small issues before they build into a bigger problem. If I spot something that needs attention—whether it is a household issue, a potential pest problem, or something else—I will deal with what I can and make sure the owner knows.
I can care for indoor and outdoor plants, water as required, mow lawns, and am particularly good with roses. I pay close attention to household and pet safety, including keeping windows secure for indoor cats and following an owner’s established routines. I would only let a dog off lead with the owner’s explicit agreement, after understanding the dog’s recall, usual walking routine, and safe areas—and only once I was confident it was appropriate.
