More information about this house sitter

We (George and Sarah) are Canadians and retired from medicine and post-secondary education respectively. We love to visit Tasmania, in part as we have a son and daughter-in-law in Taroona. Our trips to the state are often a couple of months in length, and we like to structure that time by housesitting, staying with family and travelling around hiking and fishing.
We are quiet, respectful older adults. Having people stay in our house in Canada has made us super aware of “treading lightly” in others’ houses! We spend much of our time in Canada with our 14-year-old labrador retriever Gracie, often out-of-doors, walking on local trails and beaches. Other outdoor interests of ours include cycling and fishing. When indoors, we are often cooking, reading and working on creative projects like writing, knitting and tying fishing flies. George also makes bamboo fishing rods.
We are comfortable looking after dogs, cats, fish, rabbits/guinea pigs & birds. As we are keen walkers, your pets will be well loved and exercised! While we don’t currently have cats, we have in the past and have enjoyed their company. George grew up on a farm, so poultry & livestock are also a possibility for us when housesitting.
We will be in Tasmania from Dec. 8, 2026 – Jan. 12, 2027 and are looking for sits that are from 3 or 4 days – 10 days in length.
