More information about this house sitter

Hello! :)
My name is Franzi, I’m 24 years old and from Germany! I grew up on the countryside and spent a lot of time on my uncle’s farm, surrounded by cats, quarter horses, and cows. From an early age, I’ve always felt a deep connection to animals and a strong desire to care for them, because I’ve experienced the rewarding, unconditional love they give. Another influence on that was my aunt - she’s a pet vet. Since I’ve been a little girl I accompanied her in her veterinary practice and learnt a lot about animals and their needs - especially cats and dogs.

In 2011, a little cat showed up in front of our garage - and from that day on, she became part of our family. She’s been my best friend ever since, always there for me without needing words.

Almost every house in my neighborhood back in Germany has had a cat, so i started sitting them when I was 11 years old, when my neighbors left for a holiday. Besides that I’ve also got catsitting experience in a nearby city with a cat which was characterized as being very shy and anxious. After a short while she got used to me and build trust towards me.

After finishing school, I decided to become a nursery nurse, but I’ve always had a strong curiosity to see the world. When I graduated, I traveled for a year and quickly realized how much I missed my cat — but luckily, she built a close bond with my sister, who takes wonderful care of her.

When I came back home, I worked in youth welfare with teenagers aged 16–21, a job I really connected with because I’ve always wanted to support people going through a hard time.

Still, I never truly felt like I belonged in Germany. The love for my cat and the need to earn money kept me there for a while, but since she now spends most of her time with my sister and is happy and loved, I finally decided to follow my dream of exploring the world.

That’s how I ended up in Australia on a Working Holiday Visa - ready to combine my love for animals with my passion for travel. I’m so used to having animals around me that I genuinely miss their presence, and I think house and pet sitting is a beautiful way to explore a new country while giving back the care and love I’ve always received from them.
