More information about this house sitter
A LITTLE ABOUT ME.
Compassionate, intuitive, bright, independent woman with a healthy sense of humour, who loves animals and has much experience of caring for them, especially dogs, cats and chickens.
***A good time keeper and excellent at adhering to instructions and preferred routines.
AM I EXPERIENCED?
Yes. Very.
I have been looking after animals, largely cats and dogs of most breeds; ages; personalities and idiosyncrasies, for all of my life in one way or another
*** I worked extensively in two 'live-in' roles for high-profile clients, caring for them and their pets, ( dogs, cats, chickens) over a period of 7 years ( references available)
***I have rescued many animals and fostered more.
My current life companion/adoption is a very sweet and quite naughty, fawn coloured, wire-haired lurcher girl called Teasel, who will be staying with trusted sitters here in in Dumfries and Galloway, whilst I am in Australia.
*** Gained lots of experience with all sorts of animals working for a charity on a petting farm alongside people with autism and down syndrome; mentoring them on how to care for alpacas, ponies, goats, pigs, geese, a dog, a donkey nicknamed 'Oatey' or 'Oats' (full name: Don Quixote!) and a farm cat - who needing no looking after at all, besides my bowls of food left in the stable and lots of lovely piles of hay to sleep on.
(He refused to be tamed, clever fella).
***I have worked as a professional dog walker for a lengthy period when living in the city ( Brighton, UK)
I am particularly experienced with long dogs / lurchers/salukis, who are well known 'escape artists' and have a keen understanding of their need for being 'on-lead' and having very secure settings for any off-lead activity.
I have cared for many other breeds; cockapoos, schnauzers, labradors, terriers, to name a few and many, many cats with their individual characters.
***Experienced at administering meds: having also worked as a professional carer, looking after people and animals.
REFERENCES
Have happily completed many pet-sitting assignments and have several references available besides those on this site with public access.
*Please ask if interested in reading: For the confidence of some of my former clients, I am not publishing on the site; am very happy to share with potential clients who are interesting in having me on assignment for them though.
WHY DO I WANT TO HOUSE-SIT?
Largely, I absolutely love being in WA, (where I partly grew up, attending John Curtin School in Fremantle) ; visiting friends and relaxing.
I am happier doing house-sits, rather than staying with someone I know as a guest though, as it gives me an opportunity to write and lots of alone time with your pet(s), undisturbed.
WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR IN A HOUSE-SIT?
****I am particularly interested in long-ish term sits in (my) winter months - (your) summer ones where I can find the time to stay home and write, that fits around the requirements of the house-sit.
I always leave a house very tidy.
FLIGHTS BOOKED;
***On this particular trip my flight gets into
Perth on JAN 1st 2026 and departs on JAN 28th.
So am seeking house/pet sits that fall within that period.
WHAT CAN I BRING TO A HOUSE-SIT?
Peace of mind, comfort, fun and safety for your pets
(predictive text seems to think 'pets' are 'poets'. Well... we'll see!)
***Crucially, I adore animals and am sensitive to their needs.
***When working in 'live in' roles in aristocrats homes, the standards were high, in terms of keeping the house in order. Therefore I have the habit of being very clean and conscientious, leaving your house immaculate.
It's a nice thing to do for someone.
Everyone wants to come back to a clean space when they've been away don't they?
***Excellent communication and updates.
*** All-in-all, I am clean and trustworthy and very comfortable and confident caring for your treasured beasties.
OTHER INTERESTS
Working with plants is also a lifelong love and I manage a beautiful horticultural nursery overlooking Wigtown Bay - pictured.
(Wigtown is Scotland's National Book Town and we have a Book Festival every Autumn where many authors come and read from their latest publications on their book tours and where there are many writers groups.)
That's me -
Lover of all forms of nature:
Plants, trees, animals and occasionally human beans!
Some of them are quite nice actually :-)
