Hi, I’m Tamara. My husband William and I have four young children and we live a very family-centred lifestyle. We homeschool and spend a lot of our time outdoors, around animals and in nature. William is currently studying IT full time online, which gives us the flexibility to travel while caring for homes and animals along the way.
Animals have always been a big part of my life. I spent about 3.5 years studying and working in the veterinary nursing field before moving into captive animal care. I later volunteered at Blackbutt Reserve in Newcastle for around 1.5 years while completing my Certificate III in Captive Animals, working with reptiles and other wildlife and helping with education talks.
I’ve also run my own pet sitting and dog walking business for over 10 years and have cared for many different breeds of dogs. Growing up, my mum ran a mobile dog grooming business which I helped with for around six years, so I’m very comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
My mum also has a small property with horses, sheep, chickens, ducks, turkeys and dogs, so I grew up around livestock and am very comfortable with general animal care. I’ve also helped with wildlife rehabilitation, including baby possums and sugar gliders.
We do have two very relaxed animals of our own — Percy, our gentle one-year-old bloodhound who is fully toilet trained and crate trained, and Salem, our quiet nine-year-old cat who mostly keeps to herself and enjoys her own space.
Our kids have grown up around animals their whole lives and are very gentle and respectful with them. They also understand that when we stay in someone else’s home we treat it with care and respect.
William previously ran his own lawn care business, so he’s very comfortable helping with mowing and general property maintenance, and I enjoy gardening and caring for plants.
We live a very calm lifestyle we don’t smoke or drink and we always aim to leave homes clean, cared for, and animals well looked after.
