Hello! I’m Vanessa, a mature, responsible and well-travelled house- and petsitter who enjoys meeting people from all walks of life. I lived and worked overseas for eight years in international peace work, women’s rights, research and media monitoring before returning to Australia to reconnect with family, complete a psychology degree and settle back in.

I’m currently dividing my time between Melbourne and Hobart, where I have friends, family and casual work. I’m looking for longer-term house-sitting opportunities while I re-establish myself in Australia.

I enjoy working across cultures and speak German, as well as some Albanian and Polish. I also get by in other Slavic languages. Before moving overseas, I guided hikes on Tasmanian trails and managed social and market research projects. I’m naturally curious about people, cultures and systems, and at home I enjoy a peaceful, tidy space.

I love pets and have experience looking after both dogs (oldies and pups!) and cats. I spend a lot of time outdoors, keeping active and exploring nature, and I’ll treat your home with the same care and respect as my own.

I’m currently plant and house-sitting in Hobart until the beginning of August. During August I’ll be based in Melbourne, where I’ll be working casually in hospitality and volunteering at the Melbourne International Film Festival. After that, I’m open to house sits in Melbourne or Hobart (or Adelaide).
